Diamond setup for OL (D357)
Well, as you can see, in diamond we got matched up with BFF this week, so it might be a long week for some of us (especially me, don't even have Jackie at 2B)
As far as a crown goes, we have four teams, two in the AC West (NoWhere Men and Annandale), one in the NC East (Lemp Ave.) and one in NC West (Yours truly). Since NoWhere Men and Annandale are in the same division, they will have far more games than needed to qualify for the crown. The Southpaws have 4 games against NoWhere (2 home, 2 away) and also have a three game series against Annandale, so they will have 13 games total. Unfortunately, Lemp Ave. doesn't have any OL contests beyond the 6 games against Cary, so it appears they will be ineligible for a crown.

Looks like Gold might be very open this week. Hopefully it will go down to the wire and give us a bit of drama.

Shinboone, Left Coast Break First from the Gate in OL S307
The Stars and Labrats lead the way early. Boulder City sat out April, but will join OL play with a half dozen games in May.

I hope the table stays tight until the end of the week, and we get an exciting finish.

Strange development with the Stealheadz, as it seems that the game has kind of capped each player to 2 steals per game.
39 games with at least 1 player getting 2 steals (often 2-4 players), 2 base stealing achievements. |

South Holland on top. The Dutch drivers were the best and busiest in league play.

Mid-week D357 update
No more OL games left this evening, so this is the half-way point in the season. Records so far:
Cary Southpaws: 7-1 Annandale Atom Smashers: 5-4 Nowhere Men: 4-7 Lemp Ave. Perfectos: 1-5 All six OL games for Lemp Ave. are complete, and as mentioned before, they will not have enough games to qualify for crown. All other teams will. Cary still has 5 games remaining--- all of them in August: a 3-game home series against Annandale, and a 2-game away series v. Nowhere Men. Though they have a substantial lead now, it could easily vanish by the end of the season.

Knockemstiff have ridden their good RNG to a healthy record in both OL and the league. I highly doubt it will last! My money would have to go on the Mad Brewers going back-to-back (and then hopefully being promoted ).The 3 teams at the bottom didn't have a great day and slipped off the pace a bit. Port Ruppert are a bit unlucky to have been in Silly's division 2 weeks in a row.

Stars Still Shine Brightest in OL S307
Shinbone, off a stellar 8-4 July, continued to set the pace, though the field widened a bit, with seven teams now north of .500.

South Holland with the solid lead in OL B237.
Game of the month belongs to Bluffton and West Burlington. Down 2-0 in the bottom of the 8th, the Boomerangs came back with a two-run Enos Slaughter HR off Farmhand starter, Cy Young, to tie. The game continued for another 10 scoreless innings before Bluffton's Jorge Posada walked it off with another 2-run blast, this time against reliever Babe Ruth. |

Knockemstiff are still punching a bit above their weight. They don't have the run diff to back up their record (unlike Silly's +180!), and I'm expecting them to slump anytime soon. But, with PT, who knows?! |

Shinbone Still Leading in OL S307
While the chasers shuffle themselves around a little, the Stars steer a steady course toward the crown.

Both teams on cruise control this week and next due to vacation (outside of popping onto GO to quickly enter tourneys now and then).
I opened packs for Sugar Hill yesterday morning and they grabbed an Ice Box Chamberlin, Pop Williams and Jack Fournier. I know the Gang had won 15K in pp in a tourney but when I went to manage cards I found an SE perfect Will Clark-apparently I won the Sunday Gold double RR - a nice little surprise. All cards sold as none will fit the 70's theme the Gang is going to become in five or six weeks. The pp are welcome as many 70’s players dropped last night. Coney Island is going to ride out the month of August as is-their bronze tourney team was not loading correctly since I am guessing Sunday night. I don't win a ton of tourneys but I place in many and average 120-130 packs a week. I am playing less this week but I only have 23 packs right now so I looked at the team and saw the roster wasn't loading correctly. I made minor tweaks to fill it out on the phone but it's still not correct but better. I am only allowing computer time on Sundays while away so I will look into further then. The Mad Brewers are letting drama slip in. After dominating the first half of the season they have started to slip.

Gold League:
Knockemstiff have kept it going, and they only need a max of 4 wins from their last 10 games to seal Gold 2040. At this point, it's fair to say that I'm not so keen on the idea of any excessive late drama ![]() Think I'll be putting Tony Fernandez back into the Shiners lineup for now. There's an undercut war going on with him, if anyone is interested Last edited by Tinkerman; 08-14-2021 at 05:08 AM. |
