The New Delhi Bengals of the WLB are in need of a dedicated GM. The Bengals are poised for greatness boasting a top 5 farm system and 2008 Eastern Hemisphere Rookie of the Year, Jagajeet Veer, in addition to many other fine players
We are currently in the middle of the FA period and rookie draft of the 2009 season. The WLB is fictional OOTP5 league with: - seven years of OOTP history (four with OOTP4 and 3 seasons with OOTP5) - BOSI league (great for tracking players development!) - traditional ratings - finances on ($75 million salary cap) - coaches/scouts off - no DH - renamed players (for international effect) - live on-line sims twice a week of two game weeks - live amateur draft and All- Star Game We are also very newbie friendly and only require that you own OOTP5 and have some solo OOTP experience. Links to the league: http://www.wlb.ootp-leagues.com/ http://www.wlb.ootp-leagues.com/Reports/league.html A link to the league rules : http://www.wlb.ootp-leagues.com/rules.htm A link to the New Delhi team: http://www.wlb.ootp-leagues.com/Reports/team14.html If you are interested, please email me at ben.music@testquest.com with your name, your experience and why you'd like to join us in the WLB. An AIM handle is very nice to have as well, but not strictly required. We look forward to hearing from you!

I believe this is the league's first opening in two seasons, so it's not something that comes along every day.
I've been with the WLB from the beginning and it's been great fun. It's a very user-friendly league. The GMs are active, dedicated and tough to beat. As for New Delhi, thanks to the previous GM's rebuilding program, the Bengals are getting ready to break out as a power in the Eastern Hemisphere. This is a rare opportunity.

You asked exactly the right question...

Whoever gets the New Delhi post will also have an excellent chance to participate in making some policy in that area; it's been the subject of quite a lot of discussion lately.
At present, I believe the cash max is $75 mil, but it may well change.

From what I've seen, it is a great league, but there are some definite things that need to change. But like Louie said, someone new could help with those changes.

It looks like you have a few WLB connections Kieran. For those of you who have not heard, the WLB is currently discussing how to deal the FA issue where one can offer a huge one-year deal to a top FA in hope of signing him to a cheaper extension. Some people argue that a high cash maximum favors the rich teams, allowing them to take these gambles. In joining the league, you would be able to bring a fresh perspective in dealing with these issues.

OK. I see where Kieran's information is coming from now
![]() I'd like to note, for the record, that we all respect the former New Delhi GM and I believe we all respected his decision to leave, abrupt as it was. He's a fine GM and there were no hard feelings on this end. But it may have been that he hadn't been with us long enough to realize that we have our controversies in this league and we work them out. There's been a long discussion of cash and ethics matters on the league forum, and all the GMs will contribute to making the league better in these areas. One thing's for sure: The event that provoked his departure will not happen again. I don't want to sugarcoat things, but this is a league filled with intelligent, capable adults, and they'll handle this thing. I wouldn't be in this league if I thought it was full of pinheads and cheaters.

This is a great league with much opportunity for all. New Delhi is seriously going to be one of the best teams in the league for years to come. If you're looking for a challenge then this isn't the right fit for you, but if you think you have what it takes to take a team loaded with talent, and find a way to keep them under the cap as they clear the league minimim then you'll have a blast.
I do not think the league has any major issues as the non-WLB'er pointed out. I think there was a minor issue that we are discussing and working through. I'm in numerous leagues and the WLB is hands-down the best of them. The majority of GM's are solid, the league gets lots of GM interaction and articles, and the debates are heated. I love it here. Come to the WLB and see if you can best the Mexico City Aztecs.

I have been in the WLB for the last 3 simmed years and it has been great. It was my first league and I have learned a lot. Very active, lots of good GMs.
The former New Delhi GM made many good moves and the team is positioned to do very well over the next few seasons. Come check us out, we won't disappoint. |

I'm also an original owner and the league is a lot of fun with solid owner as was stated. Whoever picks up this team will need to restore some dignity to the Eastern Hemisphere who has struggled in recent World Series history.

The reason I say the loophole is gone. Players who get a over inflated contract who have not had any drop in their talent will ask for at least the same amount as he made in the previous contract with the current version of OOTP5. (Example (Roger Kleckner) If the situation is one where both teams interested are planning to spend too much for a player and the player jumps on the first contract, then I don't see the harm as long as the player forces the team to resign him for at least his current contract. I am surprised that larger contracts are being given out considering the surpluses the teams have in your league.

Now for my 2 cents! This was my first ever OOTP league, and I won't leave it because I like the product. Issues are discussed and resolved. The participation level is high and our commish is very committed to the league.
Every league has its bumps. ND is on the verge of turning the corner and new GM's are welcome to deal some of that talent to me ![]() Join now, you won't be disappointed. Gary, WLB - Casablanca Heat NARBL - Boston Red Sox SO49 - New York Yankees CWBL - Pawtucket PawSox |

I just wanted to say, I was not trying to make trouble for this league. As I said, this does appear, for the most part, to be a great league. And I have looked at it from time to time and it's always seemed to be a top notch league. I just saw what I felt was a problem and felt that any new owner should be aware before they jump in. And if what Deft says is true (I have no reason to doubt him, I've just never seen it) that OOTP5 makes it so that the player will ask for the same, then perhaps the problem is not that bad. However, I've never seen this myself so I don't know for certain. And, if the commish has so much cash then can't he pay the ridiculous price next year as well? What's stopping him? But more importantly, this came from the commish, not just any owner. I can't imagine that he couldn't have foreseen that the other owners would be a lil peeved by this. And if he did foresee this, which again, I'm sure he did, why did he still do it? Anyways, I'll butt out and for anyone who feels it was none of my business, I apologize. I wish the league the best of luck. I just hope you can get this straightened out as soon as possible, put it behind you, and continue on with your success.

We have a 75 million cap KQ, so he will have to cuts elsewhere if he wants to keep the player at 30+ million.

The league is handling the issues in-house, we will resolve the situation so that all the owners are happy.
The WLB has enjoyed low turnover, we have great owners, great guys and after some initial fuss, we are working to fix the issue. BTW, the New Delhi Bengals are a up-and-comer. Definitely will be near the playoffs for a while, but, in a tough division, it will be a challenge to take the Bengals the distance. If you want that challenge contact us

I apologize if I have misled anyone, in any particular, through my own ignorance.
I still think the WLB, in some form, could be worth a look. It has a lot of good people left in it.
