I know most folks don't want to do this but, having the same frustration with injuries, especially in spring training, I decided to manage and play the entire game all spring. Result - NO injuries. I limited pitches and if a regular got a hit in the middle innings I put in a pinch runner. At least got to start the regular season intact. Interesting result though. Don't know if it would work a second time but I'm sure that was my first spring training with no injuries.

For anyone that is considering buying the game, yes you can turn the injury frequency down to very low or even off.
For those that complain that it is to high, I don't know why they just don't turn it down instead of complaining about it. Some like the high setting.

I think some people, like me, are so eager to begin playing a new version of OOTP they forget that injuries can be turned down.

I think that part of the issue for those that get driven mad by injuries, is perspective

In real life, it's one day at a time, a long grind through the season, from MLB to the organizations' lowest levels. Some days there's a few injuries, some days there's none

In OOTP, some people will go through weeks a day, if not months. That's weeks worth of organizational injuries per day. It's gonna feel like a ton because it is, because all those injuries are supposed to be drawn out over weeks, like you're used to

It's annoying to stop and readjust lineups & rotations, god do I agree. But it's something that normally only has to be changed once a day, tops

You need to go under Game/Settings once the game has started and tweak the injury rating downward.

Hehe the classic "man my team looks good now that it's healthy" then September comes along and boom 3 or 4 of your top players are done for the year and you end up scoring a total of 2 runs while getting swept in the wild card round.

I have so much anecdotal evidence filled to the brim with confirmation bias and every other bias and zero actual statistical analysis on this but I *swear* it happens all the time.

But back on topic... real life injuries are sky high. It just seems worse in the sim because you are simming/playing weeks or even months in a single real life day.

Also you play season after season after season. When your team is healthy you don't really take note of it and dismiss it as a normal season (it's not), but when the ambulance comes and takes half your team you most definitely take notice.

Part of the problem is that the AI sucks in getting your team ready for the playoffs. It doesn't know to rest your veterans or set it up to have your #1 be ready to start game 1 of the playoffs so that does lead to untimely injuries. But I agree I wouldn't say the game does it on purpose it's just that you remember when you star player goes down in late September and forget when he does so in April.

I switch to High two seasons ago. Injuries do not seem excessive. You do have to play with game strategy and pitch counts for starters. If you just run with default you will have issues.

I mainly do historical simulations. If I just want a straight sim, then I turn them down lowest level. If I want a challenge, I leave them at default normal level.

I mean, how realistic is it to only have two pitchers start more than 15 games in a season because of injuries? To only have two pitchers throw more than 120 innings? It’s absurd.

I’ll be turning down the injuries a notch below retro.
Yeah i've had the same experience with the default injury setting. Every year i have 3-4 SP's out for at least 3 months. usually at least one out for 6+ months. Then my star RF will get a 6 month injury. It goes on and on.

I know injuries are a reality of baseball, but something seems off on the severity of the injuries. I have way too many 3+ month injuries. I would be ok with more 3-4 week injuries. I don't see enough hamstring or oblique injuries.

I think the number of injuries are ok, just the severity needs toned down.

The injury settings on High have been tweaked based on actual reported injury numbers, length, etc. If they “feel” too high that’s because, frankly, no other sports game has looked at injuries in this detailed of a manner. At that said, over the years they’ve continued to get tweaked; there are now a lot more (the proper rate) that happen to pitchers, for example.

I really think injuries in 22 are more affected by the team trainer you have. I initially was having a large number of injuries in my first few GM run seasons. I let my trainer go and hired one with mainly excellent and legendary status across the prevention and recovery board. I think it's made a big difference.

I recommend everything having an issue check their trainer's stats and look for an upgrade.

well when you are pumped up on PEDs it makes you think you are immune to injury......even with all the armor they wear nowadays....

I've noticed in the last couple of seasons of my save that there are some strange substitution patterns in September. Like the AI force starts your tired starters in September if you're leading or in the hunt for the playoffs.

Has anyone else noticed that? It might have an effect on injuries.
