I really want to do the infielder mission for Gibson and Robinson (catcher is such a pita position this year) but its going for around 1000pp per point and I have 175 points left to get...that's a chunk of change. |

This issue could easily be solved if pretty much every non-live card was 'Limited Edition' with only a set amount of them available in the entire PT universe. The better the card, the rarer it should be.
I doubt this will ever happen, but it would surely solve the problem of teams having extremely similar rosters like we see now. Not gonna lie, this really is making Perfect Team kind of boring this year. When every team in your division has the exact same, easy to obtain stud players, what's the point? I'm going to keep playing the rest of this year out, but I might skip next year's version. I don't know...we'll see. Last edited by kcharles520; 06-02-2021 at 04:39 AM. |

We're essentially playing Rock, Paper, Scissors with a spreadsheet. And right now, there are lots of rocks, lots of scissors, and not much paper. That means everyone that wants the best chance of winning is going to play rocks.
Once more papers are added, we'll start seeing more variety as those scissor cards also become more useful. That would take a lot of pre-release planning, but you could implement it via the live mission rewards, where instead of 1 pretty good card, a player gets a choice of 1 of 3-6 cards, all of which are viable depending on the play style a person is going for. And it would need to work out that it's not an absolute that rock beats scissors, but make it something like this: Rock beats scissors ~75% of the time, beats rock ~50%, beats paper ~25% You could also add to this by adding manager and park cards, but ultimately, if there is one play style that is proven to win 35% of the time instead of 33%, people are going to go for that extra 2%. There are some really smart people who play this game (I'm not one of them). They will figure out the 'winning' combination. The devs have to make sure there is more than one 'winning' combination.

I also get the sense that people who don't want to put any cash in (which is completely fine) and get really frustrated don't focus on the right aspects of the game (capped tournaments for example) to enjoy it. There are tons of things to do in this game and winning diamond+ leagues and open tournaments are only a few of them, but they are going to be dominated by people who don't mind dropping $1000+ on PP especially at this point in the season. It has been said here a million times but I'll say it again, if you want to be a F2P player and compete in high tier leagues that's great - but you should really focus on building a strong bronze tournament team that can generate packs for you over winning leagues that generate maybe 10-20k PP a season if you're doing well. |

The problems for me now are that completing any kind of mission is not going to improve my team until I reach the ultimate reward. The new Team Missions are particularly pointless because none of the cards I need to purchase will ever get in my lineup, the Team rewards are lukewarm, at best. Only the Conference 100's could be improvements, but the time and cost to get there is both daunting and boring.
Build-A-Bears are similar in that few diamonds are playable and the cost to get to perfect is immense. So I'm basically spending my time on Field of Glory now and putting aside OOTP until 23 comes out.

I'm thinking I might just use some technically 'worse' cards literally just to make it more fun going up against these ultra-similar teams every week. Just be the underdog intentionally for fun...or is that considered 'tanking'?
It's just so boring to be stuck around .500 in Silver with the same boring roster as everyone else. I'm literally having more fun playing Iron Tourneys right now cuz at least there's actual roster diversity and different types of strategies being implemented there. |
