Is it possible to control the age of potential draft picks?

I have a bunch of players getting drafted at age 22-23. Is there a way to cap the players generated who are college seniors to 21?

league settings > players tab

set the min/max ages you want for creating players (17 min / 21 max, for example)

though, if a 21 year old gets drafted, but doesn't sign, they might be back in the draft pool the next year at 22

Thank you!

Quick follow up question, is it normal to have a 23 year old drafted? I don't follow the real MLB that closely, but that seems kind of old.

No, it's quite unusual. There's something wonky going on with the amateur draft with guys being older and almost fully developed in some cases. A dev mentioned they are aware and would be addressed in the next patch. Hope it's soon because it's keeping me away from a modern day game at the moment.

It happens. If you check out the 94 players on Fangraphs 2021 draft board, three are age 22.6 or over. A fifth year senior in college would be 23, and you’re going to see some of them as you get deeper in the draft.

23 can happen, although shouldn't be too many of them. In 2019, for example, there were 3 guys picked at 23 and about 40 who were 22 (2020 was a weird year so not a good sample - draft being a month later this year might shift ages a hare older going forward too now). So a few guys that old is not a problem, but if there are too many, we might need to take another look and drop the drafted age range down a little.

Thanks for posting this thread. I never set limits before but I had several "old" players in a recent draft so now I will.

if it's in the later rounds, no worries. Those players aren't going anywhere without winning the lottery on random talent change across the board or some on in a billion chance every other team rated them 100% wrong and 1 got it right.

heck, best most 20th rounders never get beyond A-ball, if not S A.

Just some context, Those players all drafted developed.

There were a ton of other players who drafted at 40ovl - 50 potential etc. as well
