Rookie 78
Gear Terrace running away from the small field. Other teams have some work to do to avoid being in Rookie for another season.

Labrats had 10 packs to open, from tourneys, when I got home last night. Nothing too exciting from an OL standpoint, especially as a Reds theme, but got a live perfect which I sold and bought more packs. Got my first Negro League player, Heavy Johnson. AH value looks like a better option than pretending he would have played on the Reds so hoping to get 30k or so for him.
I did a search for Reds players on the AH, with the "cards I can afford" turned off and got some depressing results, from a Reds Theme perspective. Not a lot available, even if I had the PPs. Two perfects well out of my price range, and liable to remain so, but not a lot under that. I am willing to stretch my idea of Reds players to ones who played meaningful time with the Reds, even if not on the card. I have Mike Cameron in my outfield, for instance, and would certainly use a Tom Seaver, Frank Robinson or Dave Parker. I am pretty good at remembering Reds players within my lifetime, but it will take some digging to find earlier players who fit.

Thanks. You are always welcome to do OL standings. That goes for anyone else who might be interested in pitching in. I think I speak for others who regularly do the standings, a break from the responsibility is always welcome. I am always willing to step aside if someone else is interested. |

Stone 186 update
I offered to help with the Stone 186 standings this week because I was curious as to how the Penguins were doing. They are doing well and leading the OL standings after a solid April and May. Still plenty more games to come and Baltimore Barons are close. Very close race in the middle of the standings. Gettysburg is doing well in non-OL play and are currently in playoff position.
Also, doing the standings is a bit more work than I thought so even more thanks to all the others that do it. |

Perfect Team Update, Tuesday PM Report One thing is for sure; my luck in opening packs and earning much from tournaments is worse than terrible. All my team improvements, with the exception of one, has come from the Auction House. I need to ask Stanley to beg Jobu for a reprieve... Gettysburg is holding on to 2nd Place and a Wildcard spot so far, but it's a finger-nail scenario. OL record is 9-11. Cleveland is embarrassing. Basically winning 1 out of 4 games and certain to be relegated. I can't help but think Jobu put a curse on me for changing the team's name. I depleted the teams resources trying to get anything to help, but all I got was my usual luck. Current record is 14-40 and OL record is 4-8.Baltimore is the cream-on-the-top leading St186-NC West with a 35-20 record. OL record is 13-10. My seasonal hope is that Gettysburg and Baltimore will meet each other in playoff action.

I have not had a lot of pack luck but I did get a nice pitching bonus this morning for the Crakes. Smilin' Al Orth the "Curveless Wonder" relies on a wicked change up and excellent control. He should fit in well at AnooYoo Spa (Crake's home field). Orth is a decent hitter as he played some seasons as an OF but only good enough to get a pinch hitting role in the most desperate of situations for the Crakes. Orth likes the strike zone so much he became an umpire after he stopped playing.

Adding another team
I will be adding another team to the OL Ranks. The Gem City Bombers, under the account of (spbjt1964).
I got pack lucky and picked up a 98 Limited Edition card which I sold for 170K and will be stocking that team with the windfall. I was considering opening packs with it but for now I will concentrate on low-diamonds after doing my research. This is usually my pack-only (no tourneys) team, with the Whalers using packs from tourneys when I win them. Thanks!

Watching the Commodores self destruct. Currently at 16-51... I'll be lucky to get 40 Wins this season and certain to be relegated. This is a prime example of weaker teams being dragged up the pyramid on the coat tails of Whales. When a few teams post a 120-42-type season, a lot of sub-.500 teams get promoted... LONG before they are ready for the challenge.
Lost season. At least Gettysburg (39-28, 2nd Place) and Baltimore (42-27, 1st Place) are making up for it.

Cleveland Gets A Break...
In one of two packs bought with achievement points, I was surprised with a flash of Blue and a 95 historical Lefty O'Doul LF. This was only the second Diamond I've obtained in a pack. Lefty will take over LF duties. UPDATE: In the last pack for the night, another flash of Blue. Only a 90, but with my recent lack of luck, this was a good night.

Got a good pull with my reward pack for unlocking the Silver Ryne Sandberg Build a Legend. Of course starting next week I can't use the Nola but hopefully he can help snag some PP this week.

woke up to a handful of packs (including a gold pack), and since I have no will power or patience
had to open them.... nothing earth shaking to show for it, but willing to give this reliever a tryout... solid stuff and movement... shaky on the controlRP - George Smith (1928) - 83 Akinori Otsuka will be sent to the reserves to make room on the roster |

Stone 186 Update
After a month with light OL play (two teams had no OL games in June) the Algoma Penguins solidified their lead in the standings. The New York Patriots, who play a light OL schedule, moved into a solid second. The former 2nd place team, Baltimore Barons, had a remarkably tough OL month while maintaining first place in their division. The Gettysburg Bullets are also solidly in the Stone playoff picture.

Newest member of the Southpaw franchise
So I strolled into the bar where I had heard we were to meet up. A few minutes later, "he" came in. He pulled up a bar stool and sat down.
"So you bought me, eh?" I took a breath, not gazing at his eyes. "Yes, I did. You are now mine for all eternity. And I must say you don't look bad for 58 years old." I paused for effect. "You realize that in this league I hired you for, that every season you will be the same player that you were during your peak years in the late 1980s. You are not really Eric Davis, you are just a facsimile thereof. And when you play ball, you will see lots of clones everywhere... clones of some of the best players in the history of baseball. And nobody will ever get injured, and there are no rainouts, and you will never age, but be like a 26-year old in perpetuity. Got it?" Eric Davis took a deep gulp. He looked so "perfect" sitting there, I felt good about my purchase. His purchase means that Dykstra will be put into mothballs, only to be brought out for special occasions like maybe a low diamond tournament. Then he met my gaze... "so am I a clone, too, then?" his voice faded off at the end as if he already knew the answer. "Of course you are. Well.... clone might be the wrong word. Technically, you just exist as bits of 1s and 0s inside a computer. When somebody gets a new Eric Davis, all those 1s and 0s line up to be ... you. You are actually a "virtual" trading card." I am not sure he understood the implications of what I was talking about and if he asked me if there was a "God" in this baseball simulation, I must admit I could not have given him a good answer. He went in a different direction. "So, you said you 'bought' me, or at least my "best" or "peak" me." He puffed out his chest. "So, at least, I hope I was expensive. Was I?" "Well... I am actually kind of surprised how cheaply some of these historical perfects --- which you are, by the way --- I am surprised at how much they have come down in price. I got you in a good deal in an auction that only I bid on, for just under 50,000 Perfect Points. I would have thought that a player such as yourself would have compelled a much higher price point --- your defense in CF is solid, and you have some base-stealing speed, you make good contact, have a lot of home run power. If only you struck out less you might have been out of my reach" Please welcome the newest member of the Southpaw family, CF Eric Davis.

The Labrats used the money from selling of Heavy Johnson to bite the bullet and add Johnny Van Der Meer. Now if the Southpaws wanted to quietly slip Eric Davis over to me, my Reds theme would be much improved!
