I hope you're not making a mistake because I am sitting on my points as well. I haven't spent a point on the Warriors since my last day in entry league. I made my first roster changes today with two of the cards I pulled this morning. I'm playing a lot different. Not hustling, just doing tournaments and opening packs. I completed one mission and it was by accident. I did missions last year but to be honest I have no interest in collecting cards-I would rather spend the time on my solo league and FHM with the time I have to play.

I am trying to stay away from SE cards, although since Sugar Hill is a theme team consisting of four franchises I may have to be a little more flexible or open it us to SF and LA for the Giants and Dodgers. I'm limiting it to NY only currently.

Maybe it's my imagination but it seems a little more expensive so far to make the small incremental improvement that just doesn't seem worth the investment at this point.

The assistant general manager of the Cary Southpaws took a breath and tentatively knocked on the door of the GM, Jim Cox. "Come In!" came a gruff voice from inside.

Opening the door, he saw the GM seated at a circular table, upon which were a slaver of coins, and the GM never raised his eyes as he focused on putting spare coins on top of a stack in front of him.

"Sir?" he offered.

"What do you want?"

"So what are those?" he asked, with trepidation.

"PPs. So what brought you to my door this morning?"

The assistant GM had no idea what a "PP" was, but he wasn't going to admit it. As the GM finished a stack and pushed it aside, he started another. From the intensity of the action, he wondered whether there might be a visitation by three "ghosts" in store for the GM's future.

"So, the press has been asking why the team is named the Southpaws, when there aren't many Southpaws on it," the assistant GM said quietly. "What should I tell them?"

"Well, Cary is in the South, right?" His eyes still focused on the rapidly growing stack of PPs in front of him. "And our players use their paws to round the bases, don't they?".

"Well, sure...."

"Listen, if you have a better name for the team, let me know. But meanwhile, I have a job to do. And..." he said, as he held up a baseball card, "if you see any of these, let me know.... particularly if they have a 100 on them. They are worth a lot."

As the assistant GM left the office, he shook his head. He still had no idea what to tell the clamoring press. And what the hell was a PP?

There's something to be said for tradition. The team's marvelous table manners also deserve mention. At the OL awards dinner last off season, while all the other jabonies were cutting their steaks, then putting down their knives, then picking up their forks in their right hands, the Southpaws were the picture of elegance and etiquette. The Cup winners all neatly cut their steaks and deftly supped with their left hands. Hell, they deserved the Cup for that show alone. So there you go, even your righties are Southpaws.

Also, I don't believe all the players on Weston Pointe were ghosts, either.

Cary Leaves No Doubt

For those fraught with worry over the suspense of the crown chase in OL ST102, the Southpaws quickly laid all doubts to rest by winning their first six OL games to clinch.

You know it's interesting. The reason I made the "fiction" Southpaw post was because I saw the first post and I thought, "I am hoarding too". I just don't want to pay a lot for cards that are going to be second-rate and drop dramatically in price as soon as some of the missions come out. So I just keep selling cards and hoarding the results. I just have a team that has mostly the rewards from the live missions on it. This year, however, the live rewards are stronger than last year. Cy Young, for example, is one of the two or three strongest cards in the game. And I don't want to sell any of the individual team rewards since supposedly they will be needed for missions later on. And, in general, they are particularly strong for their OVRs anyway.

Rookie Running to the Wire

Lemp Ave swept the Patriots to move into first place...but there have been lots of other results which have not been calculated yet.

The Perfectos end their season with seven straight games against Gear Terrace and South Holland, while Bluffton has a 3-game set left against Shoebox. The Boomerangs already took 2 of 3 from the Legends this month. A similar showing in the remaining series would put Bluffton in prime contention for the title.

Algoma and New York each have 10 OL games remaining, six of those head-to-head.

Lack of quality catching up to New York. I can't be bothered to fix it because I'm already becoming very jaded with this game. At this rate, I'll be moving onto something else when May rolls around.

Came across this card while doing a perfect draft setup.... don't recall seeing him in other versions, so it was kinda fun to not only see a new card in the game, but someone I knew personally.... Don Lenhardt was a good friend of my parents when I was a kid.... grew up hearing all sorts of baseball stories from him... he played in the early 50s for a handful of teams (Browns, Tigers, Red Sox), and ended up being a scout and consultant for the Red Sox after he retired from playing, all the way up through their WS run in 2004.

That is a neat little story...thanks for sharing it with us.

Lemp Avenue have been beating the 'Guins as well. The Penguins have done really well against non-OL teams but not as well against OL. Lots of OL games left for the 'Guins.

Was hoping I would push the mighty Cary Southpaws bronze tourney team to 7 games, but you closed it out 4-2. All 3 of my teams were in the semi-finals at the same time, and it looks like only one is advancing. Good luck in the finals.

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Reds front office has been burning the midnight oil wheeling and dealing the results of their vigorous tournament schedule. Highlights include the acquisition and sale of RF Mookie Betts, NGL SP Johnny Wright, and NGL RF Willard Brown for a net of 92,200pp.

Meanwhile the league team has managed to secure a wildcard spot for the postseason in ST209, currently posting a 98-54 record and 4 games behind BFF team Altoona Mountain Citys.

Iron198 update. The Lake Monsters swept the Grays, leaving the Lake Monsters needing to win 6 of their 7 games against the Whalers, or the title goes to Cleveland.

Texarkana, TX - Today the Tornadoes held a press day to present the latest signings as they push into the postseason. To the infield they added SS Alan Trammell, and 3B Nomar Garciaparra. The pitching staff was also bolstered with the arrival of Justin Verlander, Bert Roberge, and Carl Hubbell. The Tornadoes are currently in 2nd place in the AC West of I154 at 92-60, and have secured a wildcard spot.

The pack-luck for me, on a whole, has been very lousy compared to past PT versions, so far.

I have more than I need of Iron and Bronze Live cards which is greatly helping me complete Live missions however, even the Gold reward packs are returning 99% Live players.

Only on rare occasions will I get a OL friendly pack of 4-5 Bronze or Iron OL cards. The normal are 4-5 Live cards of Bronze and Iron!

Currently, I can't even put together a All-Silver rated tournament team as I only have 11 total silver cards in my whole organization and that includes Live cards, too!

Because of the overall poor quality of the packs and my team, I may be forced to play some SE cards, once I start acquiring them in the hope of generating some well needed PP.

The Boston Red Sox had a very Red Soxian September swoon, losing game after game, and surrendering the lead in their division And then, in true Red Sox fashion, the team roared back at the last minute, winning 9 of their last 10 to grab a wildcard spot in the playoffs. On top of all that, the team missed promotion by 1 win.

It will be a long season, as I'm new to this, but at least the team is living up to its name.

Final standings for OL Iron198.

The Lake Monsters won a stunning 9 of their last 10 games, including the critical 3 game sweep of the Grays, to pip them to the OL title.

In other news. Spread32 is annoying, so I'll be trying something else next week.
Are these simple tables cool, or would the more complex style be preferable?

Now that the rookie promotions are down to eight, your playoff results will factor in. With eight teams being promoted, the the teams that make the division series will go to the next level. An team with a worse record can be promoted ahead of another if they get farther in the playoffs, so you should go to stone if you win the wild card game.

Cary Cruises to Crown in OL ST102

As reported earlier, the Southpaws went wire to wire.
