Adding the 3D option is fantastic in that it allows both players like you and players like me to enjoy the game, and I'd be willing to bet it increased the size of the playerbase. I know of at least one person who finally decided to buy OOTP because of the 3D option--me. I've enjoyed it for two years and counting. ![]() Last edited by Pendragon; 04-06-2021 at 09:15 AM. |

Hoping someone can look to see if the following request made it into the game this year.
There is a bar graph displayed on several of the team and owner pages. The graph displays "Record History" for the team, with the bar being green if above .500 win % and red if below .500 win %. At the top of the bar graph for a particular year is the actual numerical value of the win %. If you hover over the bar graph with the mouse pointer for that same year it again displays that same win %. Over the last few versions I have asked the developers if they could change what is displayed when hovering over the bar graph from win % to actual team record (display 96 - 66 rather than showing .593%); thereby eliminating the current redundancy. I know it is a minor issue, but it is something that has been irksome for several versions now. If anyone has time to take a look, it would be much appreciated.

This is the tenth version of OOTP I've bought.
I believe that the team has put a lot of work into 22. There's a limited number of things that can be done between the release of one version and the next. The improvement on 3D during the past few years has been impressive. But I don't buy this game to play 3D. I've never looked at Perfect Team. But I'm sure countless hours went into that, as well. If 3D and PT has brought onboard new customers, great! I play the game starting with the current MLB season and see where it takes me. I enjoy digging through the minor leagues to find an underappreciated diamond in the rough. I like making trades that are (more or less) realistic. Yes, there is room for improvement as Rudel Dietrich explained here. For the first time ever, I've turned off coaching. I appreciate the effort to expand the coaching aspect. But I don't really understand what the effect on player development is and how the chemistry between individual coaches impacts the overall team. I've noticed that the game loads noticeably faster on my 64-bit system. It runs very stable. I would like to get a message at the end of the season listing the players that have decided to retire. I know where to find recently retired players in the history section, but it would also be nice to get a separate message. I just looked at the post-2021 retired players, and see that Verlander and Greinke (among others) called it a day. But I never got a message informing me that they retired. (My news subscription is set to "news from your leage and organization"). I still see too many young three-star and above players put on waivers while 30-plus year old one-star scrubs are kept on the roster. The same with the Rule-5 draft. Good young players at premium positions are left unprotected while the team has half a dozen or more one-star or one-and-a-half-star minor leaguers on their 40-man roster who will be lucky to get a cup of coffee in the majors. One of my house rules is to never grab a young talented player off of waivers or via the Rule-5 draft. It's too easy to stockpile my upper minors with talent. My disappointment at the lack of what I consider to be meaningful improvements will always be outweighed by the enjoyment that I get from the game. Thank you Markus and team for this game! We have 1st and 3rd base coaches now -- so I think it is time for them, the on-deck hitter, and the umpires to be on the field during games!

I miss having the "thanks" button, because it made me spend time typing this instead of giving me the lazy option of simply thanking rudel.dietrich for his post, since I agree with everything he said...especially the part about making the GM side of the game be more consequential than simply hiring coaches, buying free agents and making trades.
I understand that there's not really anyplace left to go with online leagues (which is pretty much the only thing I play). They work great, and with the addition of allowing online GMs the ability to submit trades in the game, it's near perfection. So, I don't expect major changes from year-to-year. I am still underwhelmed by the ballpark creator, but I don't play out that many games to begin with, and Perfect Team holds zero interest for me. I buy this game yearly (even when I got a copy for free as a tester) for its fantastic depth and customizability, for its dedicated developers, and for the many, many hours of fun it provides me. I'm not saying that it has reached perfection, and I'd love to see the aforementioned GM enhancements, but if all they do is put out bug fixes and AI improvements, it's worth the $1.14 per day that I spend on it each year (less with discounts). ![]()

I for sure see a message at the end of every season saying which players retired. In fact, since I often play in “god mode”, I get 16 such messages. That’s been around for several iterations now.

Another great job by the OTTP team. The new 3D engine really makes the game come alive when I play the games out. I also really appreciate the new 64 bit engine especially when simming games. Good job guys in only making the best better!

After the upgrade to 64 bit OOTPD could have taken the rest of the year off and it would still qualify for most significant upgrade in the past 10 yearen

I have been putzing around with the software for a couple weeks. Stayed away from Perfect Team other than to open my initial packs.
It is really good. Well done. Noticeable improvement even from last year. The only thing. I do wish that OOTP content creators would make some sort of tutorial series. I thought the Big Rich Machine did a decent job of that last year, but got awfully wordy and long at times while a tutorial would be more to the point. Just like 10-15 minute videos on 1 topic at a time. Whether its game menus, possibilities with the continue button, scouting, rule 5 draft, minor leagues management, development, ballpark creation, league rules, you name it.

I'm not as much of an OOTP veteran as many of the people here and have only played a couple of iterations of the game. I've been playing this version since release and my reaction is lukewarm, at best. I primarily am interested in playing out most of my games in 3D as the field manager. I have no interest in GM stuff or Perfect Team. And, though I like the improved 3D models, I don't see that there's any more immersion than in the previous version, at least for someone that plays like I do. Some of the obvious graphical glitches are still there (why is the bat floating in the air instead of being in the batter's hands and why do my players vanish before they get to first base?). I still like the game, but I don't really feel much like I'm playing a new version. I would probably get the same experience from last version.

There was a lot of clean up done in 3D with the 3-1 hook-up. The first baseman and pitcher animations much improved. No more first baseman picks a grounder by the bag and stands there waiting for the pitcher to come over. He steps on the bag like he should. No more does he stuff the ball in the pitchers ear. There were silly plays around first base before.

I think this is my last time around. Tried it yet again and yet again it is crashing and failing. Plus, as others have pointed out, nothing has really changed - at all- unless you play 3D I guess.

I noticed 'Upcoming free agents' was moved from the Front Office tab. Why move it? it was always there and now i just have to move to another tab to use it. Just seems a strange thing to do. I thought it was gone for a second lol
