So, in effect, the LINK only uses OOTP as a stat keeping program for HH? The OOTP simulation engine is never used? I've played HH and the engine simply doesn't compare, so why would I ever want to use this utility? I hope Markus isn't going to lend the OOTP name to this utility since the OOTP engine is only used for recordkeeping.

sporr,
No not at all the only thing let me state the ONLY thing that HH will be used for is the 1 game you actually play. All other games will be simmed via ootp just like normal. Also if you play a 162 game schedule and only want to play by hand 1 game of every series the all star games and the playoffs in HH you can the rest you can either play normal in OOTP or sim. This just adds an extra option of play to OOTP, it doesnt take any of OOTP sim engine away except for that one game you play. The good thing about that there is a command in the HH tune file that you can set it so that they play either more like there stats or more how you control them to. So you can tweak it any way you want, The Link Dev Team

I can confirm that Matt and Pierre have the support of the Out of the Park Development team. We have agreed to provide the LINK team with some general direction regarding the layout of the EXP (export) files used in league management.
I should also note that OOTP will not derive any direct income from any future sale(s) of this utility, nor have we charged Matt or Pierre for sharing information regarding file structures, etc. We have assisted the LINK team soley as a contribution to the baseball gaming community. Will this utility materialize? Well, I for one hope so - you've got to admit, this would be a fun "toy" to have regardless of what your style of play is, and regardless of whether OOTP or HH is your game of choice. I am also really excited at the prospect of seeing two of the Internet's most vibrant game communities collaborating on such an interesting project. Finally, I respectfully ask that folks (both here and from our neighbors on the High Heat boards) be supportive of Matt and Pierre, and try to ease up on the cynicism. There is obviously a vision and some logic to this thing (I can confirm that too, btw), so let's give them our support and thank them for at least trying to build something that we can all enjoy and benefit from. This reminds me of the utility created for the Wayne Gretzski hockey game years ago. It was called Hockey League Simulater. Remember that guys? You used the simulator to run your league and you could export to the Hockey Game to play out any game you wanted. I had a ball with it.
Not sure if I'd use the Link, but if you can pull it off... Go for it! |

Joe,
I personally wasnt trying to rain on their parade, but, for me, whats the point? If I were to use this with my 1933 league to play a game, none of the players are even going to resemble Hornsby, Ruth, Gehrig, or any other player for that matter. Whats the fun of just having thier names on the screen when you play HH? I can do that by creating those players in HH anyway. More power to them, if they can do it, but I just don't see the use in it for me personally. |

Well, I for one think this is an awesome idea. I would definitely be interested in trying out such a utility, since I still enjoy playing games in HH. Sometimes I will be simming or playing games in ootp, and I will feel the need for some action, so I will switch over and play a game in HH.
Good luck to you guys, I'll be watching for updates! Guy |

OK this might be a really dumb question, but what exactly is HH? All I have ever played is ootp and just recently started hearing about this HH game??

Where should the line between cynicism & realism be drawn? If there is a history about this project as several in the thread indicate, then comments about it would seem to be very appropriate. And you know as well as I do that once a producer of any product makes an annoucement, the topic is pretty much fair game for public opinion. There may be a line, but I sure didn't see anything in this thread that crossed it. Jon |

High Heat has never had a career mode. Will this cause any problems?

2 quick questions for Pierre P.
1. When you get this editor done...where can we dl it? 2. Last I heard you were 35% done, is that number growing or stable?
