Post Announcement of a New OOTP Utility

To all OOTP and High Heat players,

My name is Matt Bodenheimer, and I want to announce the development of THE LINK. I have teamed up with Pierre Page of OOTP2/3 Player Editor acclaim, to for The LINK Dev Team, and with Support from Markus Heinsohn and the rest of the OOTP4 Development Team. THE LINK is a one of a kind utility that will link both High Heat 2003 and OOTP4. The goal behind this project is to bring High Heaters to the OOTP community and vice versa. We believe that this utility will add a lot of the features that High Heat has missed over the years. We also feel this is a good way to enjoy both games without having to run 2 different leagues. The utility will be a seamless production that will let you play any and every game in your schedule in High Heat either managing or arcade style. Some of the features that will be included in THE LINK include:
1) The ability to seamlessly play an arcade game in High Heat and transfer the stats over to an existing OOTP league.
2) The ability to play each and every game in the ootp schedule including the All Star game and Playoff games.
3) The ability to use a fictional team league in HH that was created in ootp. For example if you make a team up called the Chicago Enforcers in OOTP you can play with them in HH and if you create a Chicago Enforcers uniform play with them in that uniform in HH
4) The Link will come with a INI (Tune file for all you HH’s) to adjust the rating differences in OOTP to HH
5) The Link will preserve the box score and log file from HH and place it in the correct spot in OOTP to be viewed in OOTP at a later date.
6) Since the League will be played using Internet Mode in OOTP the ability to be used in a play at home arcade league is now a possibility

Pierre and I promise to do everything we can to make the best Utility either of these games have ever seen. We will do everything in our power to include all suggestions that are possible. If you have an idea or a suggestion for THE LINK please contact us at
Simplymatt@hotmail.com or PierrePage30@hotmail.com

Thanks,
The LINK Dev Team

hmm sounds cool Now if I only played HH I'd be really happy... maybe if this goes over well I'll have to pick it up.

But one question, if I play the game in HH will the stats convert over to OOTP? Is that what this is for?

Yes you play a regular league in ootp (just make sure Interent mode is enabled) then when its you game play it in hh and then import the stats via ootp.

Thanks,

I hope Pierre hasnt given up on the v4 editor for this venture..........

I'm sure it will appeal to some, but it just doesnt to me. I dont need to "see" my teams from my OOTP leagues, I see them every day in my own head.

Good luck to you.

Can Steve or Marcus confirm this?

In case anyone doesn't remember, this guy spouted off this same thing last year, and never came through.

All I ask is a confirmation that this is really a project that IS being worked on, instead of some mumbo jumbo again.

This is a third party add on like my rosters or Iatrics addons or Pierre's editors. So basically he is not an employee of OOTP. I say all the power to them, but don't set a release date, until you know you can be done. Also people don't ask for a release date, let them put it together and get it done without having to meet some specific date.

Just my thoughts on this.

Rizon's 100% correct.

I don't want to rain on a valiant effort, but Matt recruited for help on this last year and it went nowhere.

I have a hard time believing this is anything but vaporware, and hope Pierre's time and effort isn't wasted on it.

If I'm wrong, I'll be the first one to admit it.

IMO we are best off abandoning that sinking ship that is Off Topic to the rats infesting it and just starting a whole new Baseball Forum from scratch.

Guys, you know me, I will never give a release date.
But you probably know what I'm able to do and I will do my best to make this project done.
This is a real good challenge for me and I'm stepping into it. So guys we will give you other details as soon as we growing.
Thanks

For the OOTP4 player editor (PE2)
How about the ability to export/import stats in
TXT, XLS, CSV
than export only in ASCII, HTML, DOC

Pierre, if you want to do some real good really quick, then just do a High Heat 2K3 to OOTP4 and back roster converter with Lahmann season/player/team import and .csv import and export.

That by itself would be a miracle.

Malleus Dei,
I dont think that is something that can be done real quick, but If you saw my post at the hh clubhouse yesterday, then you would know that I am planning that, I havent ran it by Pierre yet since he is so busy with the 2 projects. I do see this happening for hh soon. Malleus check out this link this is where I was telling the HH board about my lahemmn db idea http://pub38.ezboard.com/ftheclubhousegeneralhighheatbaseballdiscussion.sho wMessage?topicID=28133.topic

A little off topic, but would you be able to provide me information about the file foramts for OOTP? I've asked around to 3 different people and haven't gotten a reply as of yet. I'm wondering how the people who have written utilities for OOTP were able to do so given how hard it is to obtain the file formats for the game.

All I want to do is create a simple utility that displays league stats in a more High Heat-like way...that's one of the few things I liked better about HH than OOTP.
