Would anyone like to summarize the revelations for those of us who live in places where the internets are too slow for streaming video?

I won't lie, I'm deceive that nothing was done to improve the 19th century era again... no real team / league progression (why we don't have the Union Association and the Player League as professional league yet? The players lose two years of major league stats because of this) and no minor league before 1914 even if the players are in the database...
I will buy of course since the game will finally use the complete memory of my system, but it sure looks like I won't see much differences between 21 and 22 historically speaking... Not a bashing of the game so don't go "jump" mode on me ![]() I just feel left over in the anticipation waiting time since there is nothing new for me and I will have to continue doing a lot of league restructurations and players move manually again...

Being able to hire coaches away from other teams makes me so excited, I've wanted that in the game for years. It was so frustrating to want to bring in a new manager but be stuck with mostly guys who had been fired, while top coaches were locked in as bench coaches, etc, for other teams. Thanks for adding that

19th century baseball was just plain a completely different beast. Even if we’re going to ignore all the rule changes and just not use the game engine period because it looks nothing like 19th century ball, you’ve got the issues of teams folding in mid season, which the game doesn’t do particularly well, teams in some cases (at least one) taking over in mid season for teams that folded, entire leagues going belly up after a season (if memory serves the game doesn’t work all that well with these, although personally I’d just classify the UA and the PL as “international” leagues, as the former in particular was clearly not to the standards of the NL and AA, and then the particular issue that OOTP has with “league associations” where it’s very tricky and it doesn’t work totally right where if you set up a world with the NL and AA, kill the latter, and then rebirth your second league in 1901 as the AL. I mean, you can mostly get stuff to work now, I think, but the league history will forever look weird...
It feels like a big wall of bugs that all emanate from not setting things up to be able to drop a second “conference” and start up a new one later. And while sure, it’d be cool to see this fixed, I can also understand why it’s not high on the list of fixes (to be honest I’d love to see a future release that concentrates on 19th century baseball, not just for the association stuff but for the litany of rule changes that made the game as we know it today).

I've wanted the coaching setup to be improved for a long time so it's good that some work has been done in that area. Base coaches, cohesion and being able to hire staff away from teams all seem like good additions. But just like when they say the Trade AI has been improved it doesn't mean much until we actually play it and judge for ourselves given that the video explained the improvements but didn't actually run through any examples of gameplay to show them off.
The ball parks look great though. |

For those that missed the video, I think is wht we already knew.
1. Stadiums get a facelift. 2. Make your own stadium is improved. 3. Coaching system new and/or improved. 4. Markus needs money to buy a comb/brush. I think that is everything. Markus did talk about how he got involved with baseball and developing the game. |

Additional strategy choices looked good, he also mentioned that AI trading has been improved, as well as more impact on pitching when catcher is skilled at framing.
All good stuff. My only sigh is that....stadiums were already fine and during gameplay I don't watch from the upper deck so I set up TV like cams and abandon the Goodyear blimp view. Would have preferred more effort on improving the animations instead of high res ballparks.

Along with more coaching options come more "personal" traits impacting outcomes. I like the game and will buy/play it but this is not a something I have ever seen add something enjoyable to the game. I am worried that there is going to be too much "hurt" around complex platoon strategies. It is just one thing I do not feel is realistic or fun to do.

dear ootp developers, you guys need to chill with the promotional videos. here i was all set to skip this years version, then i watched the videos..... Honestly, i don't know why i fight it. i buy it every time it comes out whether i want to or not. At least i fought it all the way up to the day before pre release, a better fight than other years. i look forward to fighting (and losing) for many future years
