A solid performance from Marcello Waddingham on the mound (7 innings, 4 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, 7 strikeouts) and an equally solid performance at the plate from Antonio Santistevan (3-for-5, 2 RBIs, 1 run scored) helped power the Blithering Idiot to a 6-1 game 1 victory over Horsefly.

Scorched Earth cruise to game 1 victory

A fourth inning highlighted by an Alex Portal grand slam put the game away early for the Giant Killer as 3rd slot starter Mike Driskell tossed a solid 7 innings of 4 hit ball, giving up just 2 runs; before turning things over to the bullpen to close things out. Scorched Earth would finish off Meadowlark 9-2 to take the opening game of their series.

Pitching and defense rule game 1

If you're a fan of high powered offensive baseball and big time scoring, this wasn't the game for you. All the action from a scoring perspective came in the 5th inning. A single mistake by Great Raft starter Jason Opatz turned into a two run homer for Bobby Brinkley to score the only 2 runs for Firefly Hollow. Unfortunately for Opatz and the Reasonably Corrupt, the tag-team pitching performance from Rich Foley (6 innings, 6 hits, 1 run); Gus Cruz (0.2 innings, 1 hit, no runs), Roberto Burgos (0.1 inings, no hits, no runs), and Jaime Redwine (2 innings, no hits, no runs) made those two runs stand up as the visiting Dire Chinchilla took game 1 by a score of 2-1
