Sorry, I'm trying to be nice, but I'm 63 years old and it really looks like TBCB 2.5, great but flawed, is all there is ever going to be in my lifetime for serious boxing fans.

It's being worked on...

There are other commitments...

Etc.

Even ditching the "financial model" (which consists of...what?) and just making a few other improvements would restore life to TBCB 2.5. Only a few! Or just one or two...

Having the ability to easily flag as "unavailable" for a certain period of time fighters who have suffered a KO loss or other severe injury. When you run a single fight or use the autoscheduler or put together a card, why do you have to poke through every fighter's record to see how badly he lost in his last fight?

Being able to change the date format. Is it year-day-month, or year-month-day? I get confused every single time I play TBCB 2.5.

I'm sure others who spend a lot more time with 2.5 these days than I currently do have better suggestions.

I don't see why the entire 2.5 engine needs to be junked. Just add some things that would make it less tedious to create and run a boxing universe. I remember when there was no RFG. It was fun creating fictional fighters manually, but boy oh boy, was it great when we didn't have to anymore.

I recall reading something Andreas said years ago about the guts of Title Bout 2.5 having reached the limits of its potential as it was never designed to be more than a replicator of individual fights. So it couldn't have a career mode as some people asked for. No idea what could possibly have been added to improve it.

As for Paul Norman. This is apparently just a hobby with him so there's no urgency to finish anything. I don't expect to live long enough to see his final product.

I can't help but feel an opportunity was missed. Boxing has enjoyed somewhat of a resurgence, certainly in the UK, where heavyweight champs Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are based. There are two boxing manager-style games on iOS that are popular (one of them is number 22 in the overall paid games chart, ahead of some big hitters like Hitman and Assassins Creed and number 2 in the sports paid games chart, behind only the massively popular Football Manager Mobile.

This would suggest there is a market for a boxing manager game. I don't understand why someone would pay money for the rights to a game and then let it wither and die. If he didn't think he had the time, why did he not try to sell it years ago? Mind boggling.

I echo your sentiments. Blown big time.

Should have tried crowd funding instead of letting it stagnate.

It seems like it's just a hobby with Paul. Something to help pass the time when he isn't working on OOTP. Too bad some other programmer doesn't come up with a similar game that would allow us to use fighters and pics we've made for Title Bout. There seems no incentive for Paul to complete work on a stable new version after the disaster of TB2013.

P.S. Paul has the rights to TB 2.5 but I wonder who owns the rights to earlier versions that could be used as a template for a new game....

Years ago, I had the first iteration of Title Bout CD. It worked great until it started to eat all the data for every fighter so one ended up with names of fighters and nothing else (i.e. every "rating" number was zero.

So, after many years without any boxing game, I gather a return to the ring might be possible with TB 2.5, which I further gather from some of the comments, is compatible with Windows 10.

So, am is the bell for Round One about to ring or am I just dreaming?

Thanks for the help. Keep sluggin'.

2.5 is good. Worth the money. I tried 2013 and I did not think it was as good.

This is from memory, but I thought the core gameplay was about the same but some of the interface in the menus was clunky. I think I remember the fighter list was in pages rather than a one page scroll.

If Paul Norman doesn't own the rights to some or all of TB 2.0 (not TB 2.5) maybe someone else can buy them and start working on a next gen that would allow players to use gamer-created fighters and pics.
