I just hope that one day we will have animations approaching what we see in Football Manager.

I've noticed the same thing. Too many throws go through (to home or to third) rather than being cut off. But I guess we'll need hard data as proof. ![]() |

A pop up, like you occasionally get with base runners, asking if you want to cut off the throw or try for a play at the plate, would be a possible solution?

One thing I would really love to see implemented is the "long single". It seems to me that unless the ball is caught by an outfielder for an out or the ball is hit directly in front of him the runner is going to end up on 2nd base no matter how poor the speed/baserunning ratings are for that hitter.

Football Manager is a FAR larger game than OOTP and at that OOTP does quite a few things - historical play, for instance - much, much better than FM does (FM barely even really does historical play and kind of forget about basic league evolution-related things). At that, OOTP's only been doing the graphics for a couple years now so it ought to continue to improve. It was not too long ago when the long-timers here were saying that 3D was dumb and a waste of time...

My wish is a very slight tweak to the PxP
Every time a hitter comes to the plate and the PxP starts his at-bat off with "...." he's hit by a pitch. This is in batter-by-batter mode. It drives me crazy as kind of a spoiler. |

Gotta be honest, when it first arrived on the scene I was wondering, if not loudly, why they were spending time on it. Then I used it and even in its nascent form I realized that this was a feature I'd wanted ever since I started playing OOTP but didn't realize it. A big part of the fun of playing games like Microleague Baseball or Earl Weaver was watching the actual games unfold. Now I try to watch at least a game per game-day in my leagues. It's fun to watch and it really allows you to get familiar with a fictional or historical league pretty quickly.

Some things I would like to see:
Infinite scrolling, for Manager, Team pages, and Transaction minor league page. (that way if you have more minor league teams that fit on the page you don't have to replace them, with ones you cant see. On the Manager page, you wouldn't have to choose which panels to see, On Pre-Game, the line-up screen shows rested % next to all players. When a lineup is missing a position but has all players, show player, right now line up is left blank. Allow double steal of 2nd and home. Choice of having pitching coach (strategy), or manager ( yank)visit mound Make second mound trip to remove pitcher, (giving reliever extra warm-up pitches. An argue button. Put things in context. If trading a star player who is not playing fans should not get upset. In trades involving multiple star players show fan reaction to the whole trade. Game story a player going 1 for 5 but that one was a walk-off should be the star of the game. Commissioner mode breaks it down to sup parts, trades, edit, finances roster. And have the ability to lock some during the season. Sorting of Prospect Pipeline by any column. All that and not one mention of graphics. |

How about listing a players flyball tendency in the 3d game. We have the groundball tendency shown but to see a players flyball tendency we have to click on the player name to open his profile page. I like to use shifts (although I'm beginning to doubt they do anything) and clicking on the players name to see his flyball tendency gets tedious. A quality of life request you could say.

I am looking for a realistic football sim game as well. Just tried DDS:PF21 by wolverine studios and was not impressed. No history, no real control of whom the pass will be going to, substitutions etc. I will admit I only gave 30 minutes to it but if you compare it to the depth and realism of OOTP... there is no comparison. I'd like to see both team's bullpens when someone is warming up.
Also, I'd like to move the mouse over the batting team and see their recent offensive stats. Like.....Trout 4 for his last 15 AB, 1 HR ,5 RBI, 1 SB. But love this game. Looking for an American Football game. TY |

This isn't a big deal, but I'd like to occasionally see a runner thrown out at 3B trying to advance a ground ball hit to the SS. It happens from time-to-time in baseball, but I've never seen it happen in OOTP.

Be able to scroll in-game stats, season (Current view) Today (Box Score view), and maybe last 10 games.

I'd be adding the history for every league I could find! Would also love to see history be able to edited in for leagues that are now defunct, ie minor leagues and independent leagues to be able to have a full almanac of baseball history in the game. An example would be able to see the history of the indy Northern league before it became the American Association or keep the history of the Can-Am league before it merged into the Frontier league. The possibilities would be endless and would take me years in real time to set up my perfect league but what fun it would be during the process. Another thing I would love is in the editor, to do away with players having to be a certain age to be created. I'd love to see players being able to be created to enter into a league at a specific point. Imagine that you could start a historical game in say 1950 and yet create Mike Trout to be able to be seen in your game at say age 14? Then you'd have HS stats for him and have him eligible to be drafted beginning with his SR year of HS with 4 years of HS stats. To me, at least, this would push the feel of a true baseball world through the roof. Last edited by BaseballGOAT; 12-27-2020 at 03:24 AM. |

I'd like to see a team(s) demand a new stadium for their team. Have the owner of the team threaten to move if they don't get a new stadium.

My pet peeve: I have yet to see a play where a fielder tags a runner on the basepath instead of making a throw. It seems they don't consider this a way to get an out even if the runner is running right by them.
