Do in-game statistics affect player development and ratings?

I am playing each and every game and have some players who are outperforming their ratings.

I use them as niche players and are finding ways to have them score more runs and hit with a better average.

Does the way they play affect their overall ratings or affect their development?

Thanks.

It can. Depends on age mostly and TCR ie talent change randomness

Thanks, I appreciate your answer.

Where do I change the setting for talent change randomness?

Is a change in talent change randomness positively or negatively correlated with the effect of performance on development? I'd assume more randomness = less change due to results

I know in Baseball Mogul one could force a player to steal a lot of bases and then the player's speed would improve. Or if a player posted a good batting average in one year their contact would improve. The game used one year's results to influence the next year's projected statistics. Is it a similar process in OOTP? Does success breed success (and failure, failure)?

This would be the first I've heard of performance influencing player ratings. I don't think it works like that. If you have the option selected to have overall ratings based on AI evaluation (which included performance) instead of pure ratings, sure, but that's just cosmetic.

Performance will improve morale, which can have a slight influence on development. But that's it, I believe.

Yeah that's my experience as well. To extrapolate further, if a player has untapped potential they'll have an improved chance of getting talent bumps to match their POT ratings, but changes to POT itself are, I believe, based either on injury (each injury has a chance to lower them, with longer term injuries having larger chances) or random talent changes, which are in turn influenced by TCR.

I currently have the development/aging curves flattened out in my league with TCR bumped up a bit.
