What I do. Start league about 7 years prior to the time you want you want your league to start. Fast SIM to spring of when you want league to start. THEN go to league functions and erase league, career, service time, and the other 4 or 5 tabs in that area. If you erase just league history but not career stats, then players that missed your start year in real life will show up later with the stats they accumulated previously becoming incorporated into your leagues history.
At least this works for me. I start my leagues in 1901 but I was frustrated with players that missed the 1901 showing up in 1903, 1904 etc. with their real stats prior to 1901 showing up as stats in my league. Since I started the above, no longer have that problem.
Just created historical league starting in 1914. Fast simmed 1914 through 1920. I then erased all history. League history was completely blank. All players had zero stats. I released all players and held fantasy draft. I then fast simmed the 1921 season. This is the leagues leaderboard following the 1921 season. Take a look at Burt Shotten and Jack Quinn. The biggest thing I would like to see added is the ability to actually.... you know... act like a manager and be able to interact with the individual players. A guy is in a slump, have the ability to talk to them. Praise players for good performance. Throw a table if necessary in the locker room to stir things up when on an 8 game losing streak. Something that makes it a bit more personable for player - manager interaction.

I love the game. I wish there was more stories during the season and offseason but then maybe if there was I wouldn’t be so excited when they do come up. In my sim of 5 years I’ve had two teams relocate and the league lower the mount to create more offence.

I don’t know how or what but it would be cool if there was more interaction between players and management. Owner and GM. Assistant GM.

I think the animations are great. I would like to see some more diving stops in the infield, throws from a knee and climbing the outfield wall to make a catch and even miss a catch.

One thing I really like is the double play animations this year.

I’m sure all this stuff will slowly make its way more and more into the game. That’s what brings me back every year.

I know some guys won’t like that stuff but like all OOTP versions you can just turn it off if you don’t like the stories.

I'd like to see 3B step on the bag when the ball is directly hit to him with runners and 2nd. and 3rd.
I must add....I LOVE this game. I stumbled on it and glad I did.

Why? Stepping on the bag in that situation does nothing. There is no force out at 3rd. If it were 1st & 2nd then sure... A few hours ago, I saw a groundball on my SS's glove side. He fielded it cleanly and ran to step on 2nd base for the 3rd out of the inning. More often than not, he will wind up and whip it to the 2nd baseman who's stepping on 2nd base. I was very happy to see that. I've probably seen it before, but it certainly doesn't appear often for me.

The forums are outstanding. Good community. I often just browse and read through various threads.

This is one of the more civil places on the net.

We used to have a few buttock heads around, but they seem to have mostly disappeared....
I do not miss them, but I miss some of the silliness they inspired.....
I actually got a demerit for having a fun discussion with one who liked to howl at the moon....
There is only one person ever on the boards, who I actively disliked and most people probably did not consider him a problem child....

I just saw a 1-6-3 for the very first time yesterday. Yes...It was my team hitting when that happened.

I haven't seen a 3-6-3 yet. One of my favorite animations is when there is a runner on first base and the pitcher tries to pick him off. Sometimes the runner will belly flop onto the ground right where he was standing and even though there is no momentum whatsoever, he then slides to first...I laugh every time I see that.

You can make a better one. Imagine that the player dropped, juggled, kicked or otherwise muffed the play.

Be creative

Yeah, I think animation is getting so much better and I just do as I did before we even had 3D option....Use imagination...Or thank GOD it's not video version style where once you learn the AI you can run away with league within 2 weeks. The OOTP version is top notch compared to playing Perfect Team. I lost myself last couple years playing PT but going back to OOTP next year because I love it so much. No sports game compares

Maybe I just haven't found it yet, but, I'd like to have a single button for the current game that shows how hitters preformed this game.
Eg. my SS is 1 for 3 with a double.
CF 0-2 1K

I would like for prospects to more accurately reflect the bust / star rate of the MLB. Fangraphs did a great article (https://blogs.fangraphs.com/an-updat...ect-valuation/) looking at this that could be leveraged. In an experiment (https://www.reddit.com/r/OOTP/commen...ect_on_all_30/) done by a reddit user you can see what OOTP's bust / star rates are, and bust rates are a little less, and star rates are a little more than what is shown in the fangraphs study.

No idea what the downstream impacts of this would be, but I would like to see prospects be a little riskier.

That study is based on one pretty small sample size. I don't think you can say anything definitively about OOTP and prospects based on that, although it is a good start.
