Talking Ideas for new PT cards

1946 Bugs Bunny POTM - even though Bugs played in only one game, we can make a POTM for the month of February card for him. He'll be the best two-way player ever and fastest base runner as well. Rangey to the extreme, with the ability to play any position on the diamond.

Bugs Bunny FOTF Tea Totallers - take the above card and raise every rating! Raise Bugs beyond Bugs!

192? Roy Hobbs Knights - Roy's comeback and only season with the Knights earns him the highest Power rating in baseball history, with a godly Contact as well. While he can't pitch...

Roy Hobbs PEAK - a challenger to Bugs Bunny for best two way player ever, Roy's Whammer-killing, no-hitter stuff is captured and merged with his hitting exploits with the Knights. Hey, if Brien Taylor can have a PT card, then Hobbs can pitch too.

1993 Henry Rowengartner Cubs - flame-throwing reliever who routinely tops 100 MPH, with the highest rated fastball in the game and godly Stuff.

Honorable mentions/possible cards: Steve Nebraska, Joe Shlabotnik, "The Whammer", Jack Parkman, "Ham" Porter, and Rick Vaughn.

Fictional cards will not happen due to licensing issues.

I'll never understand the hate for FL cards. Its a card in a game mode looking at what could possibly be in the career of a real player. I guess everyone needs something to be picky about...

With all due respect Kris, FL cards ARE fictional cards. In my opinion, PT should be a somewhat realistic representation of baseball. If I want fictional (which I do many times) I'll go to the classic game.

Just my opinion.

I guess it's just that I always find it fascinating to follow along prospects, and am so excited when prospects are near to the show, so it add an extra little level of "what-if" to the rest of the what-ifs in the current mode.

But yeah, I understand a little why people may not like them, hence why tournaments have "nonlive" and "historical" modes to at least separate things out a little.

FL cards are one of my favorite kinds of cards. For example Wander Franco, Austin Martin or Drew Waters (when he played for me) are always really nice cards to have on the team. Plus the design for the FL cards are awesome (at least to me)! I understand and respect that other people don't like them, but I do.

I get it. But why not open the door to "Alternate History" cards, too? What if Mark Prior and Kerry Wood weren't ridden like mechanical bulls by Dusty Baker in 2003? Well, we can make cards that would speculate on that, right? What if Oddibee McDowell was using the cream and the clear back in 1991? I'd like to see that 1993 Alternate History Snapshot card.

I mean, I understand projecting how players might do in the future. But if you're okay with that, why not project how past players might have done if things had been just a little different?

Those are basically what the crazy boosted special edition and peak cards are.

For some, sure. But let's get others involved, too. I bet that with all the Future Legends out there, maybe 25% will pan out. So 3 "busts" for every real future superstar. So for every Barry Bonds card, let's put out Alternate Histories for 2003 Drew Stubbs, 1994 Mickey Morandini, and maybe a 1976 Tony Solaita. (Or even a 2003 Carlos Zambrano.) You know, the guys who, had things broken a little differently might have become some of the greatest--let's give them 98s and 99s and 100s for overalls, too.)

A Matt Arnold or Kris Jardine card would not be fictional?

If you thought Connor Joe was a bad card, wait until you see my card. I think I'd have to be a 39 since Joe Unknown is definitely still better than my card.

that would just make you a prized card for cap tourneys, as you'd gain the team an extra point with your 39 rating

So bad the league feels guilty and gives you pity cap space.

I pitched Markus back in PT19 that we should have "Dev cards" as irons just for a little easter egg collection. It didn't come to pass

The point is that there are so many silly cards. You can call them fun cards but that is a thin veil for dollar cards. Cards made that the vast majority of players will never see except on a few opponents are designed for profit. I do not mind that reason, I support OOTP; just be straight about it.

Some (me included) can't help but share their point of view. I gather there are thousands and they are all different so it seems a little silly but I enjoy writing.

A few months ago I declared that everyone was being way too competitive in OOTP 21 and I didn't know what else to say but then later on thought of where I was for OOTP 20 Perfect Team, and I was much more competitive at the beginning of that. So it depends where you're coming from even though we're all participating in the same game.

Personally, I like the year-by-year cards as accurate as possible. My favorite special edition types are the Future Legends...they are nice considering in 5 or 6 seasons the player may very well be playing that way, (like playing Nostradamus a little), even though there will be busts. I like the Hall of Fame set. And am pretty sympathetic towards all the cards I don't get or dislike but still wonder if there should be a cap in the auction house. PT will be best with a 1,000,000 PP cap on a single card...Now that I've considered the varying points of view. That's more like my estimation.
