Good job, Rob Numbfred, further cheapening the game.

Baseball is cool

Give me more (except during a pandemic there should probably be none).

I don't think I'd really mind doing away with the playoffs all together. Or, having a 30 team playoff

I watched parts of 3 games closely yesterday. Most guys in the Mets clubhouse had their faces uncovered, and after Cespedes hit his homer there were high fives, back slaps, etc., again with no one but the coaches masked. Marcell Ozuna on the Barves had a neck gaiter... and Freddie F. Freeman wore nothing but a smile, which was great to see assuming he isn't contagious any more :/

More or less the same for the Giants/Dodgers game although I didn't see as many dugout shots. I know they're outside, but everybody should be doing neck gaiters they can pull up (Mauricio Dubon had one of those, as did a couple of guys on the Mets I saw).

Same from what I saw at the Angels/A's game, except for knothead Mickey Callaway, who I watched pull down his mask so he could talk to Maddon (who had a gaiter on constantly)... then when he pushed it back up it still didn't cover his nose

I don't want to get too drawn in because they shouldn't be playing, but

Lorenzo Cain just outsmarted the entire Cubs infield and maybe some outfielders as well

I saw... was it Acuna...? ... wear a mask or some other form of face covering on the base paths, which I imagine is terribly distracting...

I go by personal experience here, because you can't into any store here without a mask (and it's been like that for four months), and I am terribly distracted by the damn thing just looking for my groceries...

Seriously? I basically wear a mask whenever I go outside and after the first couple of weeks (and remembering that I have to adjust it a little bit) It's no more distracting than wearing a tie.

Absolutely. I preferred wearing neck gaiters when I went to day games even before this happened, so that's what I do when walking the dog or whatever. I even got a couple of them with filter slots, and those work ok (but usually need a rubber band or something to hold them in the right spot). I also have a motocross-type one with the exhaust vents that I use in stores (with a gaiter over the vents).

Since it takes literally no work and is literally the only thing that can prevent the virus from spreading to others, I wear something anytime I get more than a few feet from our house or out of the car.

And godwilling we're done with ties, I'm on your side there for sure. I can't even remember the last time I wore one other than a wedding or funeral.

Fun fact: thanks to winning their opener, the Marlins are tied for first place - the first time in *franchise history* that they are at least tied for first place after the month of June.

One of the local sports guys asked the Giants' GM the other day whether it was "lucky" (absent, you know, the world misery) that the Giants could do a year's worth of tanking in a couple of months. And that got me thinking, I might actually not care if the Dodgers win the Jamboree this year and get it over with. Hopefully the trophy's made out of marzipan.

I've watched quite a few games and the quality in general is.. not good. The endless parade of pitchers is bad, the DH is as boring as I've always found it, and the whole thing just looks like spring training. The Nats left seats empty so their park looks deserted; Dodger Stadium's soundtrack is really bad, mistimed, odd (they hit the "cheers" button one time when the Giants scored), and the sound in Oakland is really tinny, or echoey, and phony. I haven't watched the Mets yet today but they seemed to do a better job with the sound in general. To sum up, it's about what I expected.

Playing in their normal stadiums was a mistake.
The vastness of them seems to swallow the entire game.

I have watched the NBA scrimmages and while they do not feel like normal games, they look a bit better since they are playing in places designed for 1,200 fans and not the usual 14,000

I think the NFL will run into the same problem if they get to play their schedule as they want.
Playing inside an 80,000 seat stadium in going be very jarring.

And some people are more prone to throwing out veiled insults rather than thinking others might just have different personalities and preferences but still be okay.

Getting to see my first brain-dead extra-inning fake rule inning in TOR @ TB. So excited.
