League Totals and Modifiers
I apologize in advance if this question has been answered before, but is it recommended to select totals for 2019 if you're starting a new game for the 2020 season? I know that for historical seasons it makes sense to select a year from the past, but what about the current season? Also, after auto-calculating, do you select the modifiers?
I usually set mine the day before Opening Day, but I'm seeing a lot of hit batsmen (7 in one game) and wasn't sure if I did something on my end to mess it up. Please advise. Thank you! RB |

2019 is fine, since you have no way of knowing what the stats will look like in 2020, and the ideal way to do so is to just allow the game to auto-calculate, which it does the day before Opening Day.
If you're concerned that somehow you did something to make the game go crazy with HBP, just go into the league settings (assuming you have commissioner mode turned on), then click on the tab that says "Stats & AI", and then take a quick gander at the "modifiers" line. If the number corresponding to "Hit By Pitches" is like 25.000 or something then you may have an issue (note: NOT the league totals, the modifiers). If you're doing a modern day setting, it'll probably be somewhere between 0.5 and 1.5. In my 100% fictional league based on 1948 stats, by the way, it's .141, so it doesn't *have* to be in that range. If it's some kind of crazy huge number then you should be able to tell.
