Way to keep OOTP 20 Alive!

I know I should have put this into the v20 forum, but the people most interested are likely the ones that hardly go there anymore...

I have 5 teams in OOTP 20, 2 Perfect Level teams and 3 Diamond Level teams. They were all pretty much in the same boat - good but not "perfect". I would check in each Sunday and spend all my earned points on opening packs in the rare hope I'd land someone I could actually use - but other than that, I had more-or-less forgotten about them.

I've always been more of a historical baseball nut, and once the LIVE players in v20 stopped changing, my interest in the older cards increased.

It hit me one day; Why not sell off everything that wasn't a historical card on all five teams and open packs until the entire roster (active-reserve) was historical? Sure, I'd decrease the strength of the teams and probably end up in a lower level, but watching a historical team and looking for historical cards to add to the collection was going to be more fun than the way I was using the game before.

I actually eliminated any player than was from year 2000 or newer to result in an all-20th Century roster. The few 1800 cards I had I kept for the collection, but they weren't rated high enough to actually be played.

I've got 2 teams done and 3 to go.

Some of you might say, "nah, not worth it" but some others may find some added joy in keeping OOTP 20 alive for the rest of this year.

I've been checking my v20 teams on Sunday.... think I'm the only one left in the dynasty section still updating posts still waiting on the first Perfect tier title

I've sold off all my duplicates, but have held on to one copy of each unique card

I still check my PT20 once every day. My team is totally historical and I've been fortunate enough to win Perfect League Championships 3 of the last 4 seasons. I've noticed that there are still quite a good number of teams still checking in on their PT20 teams...which I think is a good thing.

Also still playing PT20. Seems to be plenty still playing. The AH is still plenty active as are the tournaments.

I played PT19 right up until it closed down (won my first ever perfect title the final week of the game, too), and I plan on doing the same for PT20.

I sell all duplicates below 80 and auction off the rest.

I really really wish there was a feature to only quicksell live cards. I've ripped 1000s of packs now in pt20 since there is rarely anything useful on the AH and it is a real pain to go thru the scraps.

I can live with quickselling the occasional unsung hero that would have fetched 300, but a 70 rickey henderson that goes for 16000? Just cant do it.

Interesting post. Makes me consider selling off one of my teams and start over with a different strategy or theme?

Great idea. I probably screwed up and auto sold some good historics with my settings being auto sell anything below 80. Argh.

This thread inspired me to check my 20 teams and I was not shocked to see that they still suck as much without me as with me, but what really flummoxed me was Smokey Burgess winning a gold glove in perfect league. The competition must have been rather weak to say the least.

I like ripping packs and if I have a big itch to do that I log into 20 like once a month. I need to accumulate more PP for auction house in 21 for team upgrades so that is my way of not wasting it all on the pack rip thrill.
