lol while i disagree with those that say its irrelevant i REALLY disagree with anyone who would compare this to Jackie Robinson.....Very few Blacks (I would say African-American but I dont know that is accurate since most of the Black people in the NHL are canadien lol) play hockey therefore there is a very low chance of there being a Black captain, where as with Robinson many African Americans played baseball they just weren't given the oppurtunity to play with whites. To say the door wasn't open before is just wrong, what other black player in NHL history would be suitable to be a captain? Peter Worrell? Georges Laraque? Donald Brashear? lol come on I love the Teddy Bear but Iginla is one of the very few in the league that is the captain type.
