well i read my monthly edition of the white supremacy society magazine that all us white folk belong to, and you are right, we all voted last month on letting a black man become an NHL captain finally. The results are in, and we decided to open the door to all the black NHL players to be captains. We voted on an annual basis, so you better take advantage of it, as it may be revoked next year.

lol while i disagree with those that say its irrelevant i REALLY disagree with anyone who would compare this to Jackie Robinson.....Very few Blacks (I would say African-American but I dont know that is accurate since most of the Black people in the NHL are canadien lol) play hockey therefore there is a very low chance of there being a Black captain, where as with Robinson many African Americans played baseball they just weren't given the oppurtunity to play with whites. To say the door wasn't open before is just wrong, what other black player in NHL history would be suitable to be a captain? Peter Worrell? Georges Laraque? Donald Brashear? lol come on I love the Teddy Bear but Iginla is one of the very few in the league that is the captain type.

Exactly the point I was going to make, but I got to the party too late. Hell, I'm Canadian, white, parents worked in the federal government and we were even too poor for me to play hockey! Let's not forget that there's not a whole hell of a lot of blacks in Canada either. There seems to be more in Toronto and Montreal, but outside of those cities I bet it's pretty odd to see a black person. To me, this is not a big deal at all. I do believe there was a door long ago in the days of Willie O’Ree, but I certainly don't believe there has been a door to captaincy for a long time. And to top it off, isn't Iguinla biracial or whatever you call it? Should this be a big deal because he's biracial? But aren't we all?
