Who do i start?

So here is the dilemma...

I have a VERY good fielding team, with one exception (1b). I decided a while back i would sacrifice this for offense, as i read somewhere it doesn't kill you.

So I have 2 choices (the other will be the DH).

1- Cobb - He is OK in left, so I was hoping maybe could get up to a 35 or 40 at 1b, am i crazy? My current LF has an 80 rating, so playing Cobb in LF wont happen

2- Williams - Also read somewhere that taller players do better at 1b (maybe im crazy). Williams is taller then Cobb but doesnt offer much else.

So who would you start? Again im only talking about DEFENSE here.
Also.. By starting that guy, how much is it going to hurt me defensively?

According to that defense spreadsheet they're going to cap out at about 15 at 1B not 35 or 40 (I didn't look up their heights so not exactly sure)

Personally, I'd sell one of Williams, Cobb, or your Left Fielder and get someone who can be somewhat reasonable at 1B. Cobb maxes out at 65 at LF so he may be worth putting there instead of your 80-rated LF if he outperforms them offensively.

You need to have at least *some* infield range and error to be trainable at 1B.

This is what i feared. I always wanted a Cobb (even if its not a 100), even though he hasnt performed as well as my LF i might put him in Left and see what i can get the for the LF.

Is there a good rule of thumb for what is "passable" at first base (ratings wise) ? Obviously I just cant stick anyone there like i thought.

Honestly, I don't think there is anything close to a true community standard when it comes to 1B.

In 19, I finally upgraded to the historic Zobrist from the 89 OVR historic Corey Seager after he won his 20th consecutive Gold Glove (in 21 seasons, because: training), so I've always had a much higher defensive expectations for the position.

However, in order to get the bats I want in the lineup on my primary PT2.0 team, I'm now training up Cool Papa Bell, who should top out in the mid-20's iirc. So even just for me, there seems to be no real standard.
