Hooked

I was a Perfect Team holdout for awhile because I didn't think I'd like it. Then when 20 came out I gave it a try.

And.... I'm hooked.

I doubt Ben Gamel and Jason Dickson will carry me to glory, but it's fun to slowly build teams.

I'm worse than hooked. I'm paranoid my family is plotting an intervention.

I am skeptical of the whole thing because it feels like you are constantly on the clock. I like to do things at my own speed and time. Can you have fun with this and be at all competitive if you leave it completely alone for a period of time?

Also, how would a person start in with it right now? Are you basically left behind if you didn't begin when 20 started up?

It's a tiered system, so if you started right now, you'll start at the lowest level, mostly with other teams that started this week.

And you can put as much or as little time into it as you want. As long as you set up a valid depth chart, you can go days or weeks without checking in without too much worry. Your team still accumulates points in the background, so if you go some time without checking in, all it means is that you have more to play with when you get back.

Okay, I tried it a bit in beta and got confused because other teams had several games played already when I started. I wasn't sure how that would work out in the end...how I could "catch up".

the initial 'entry' league is more like a spring training period... lets you sort out your squad, pick up new players from the auction house or packs, and earn some points... if you start today, your entry period will end Monday morning where you'll move to a standard 162 game league from that point on....

That was probably just the entry pool - it's where teams start to earn a few points before the league start on Monday morning. So don't worry about entry pool games, they don't count for anything and just get you points before the league starts.

If you sign up now, you start in the entry pool, which is essentially a holding tank for the week. There's no playoffs in the entry pool - you simply sim games until the next season starts on Monday.

But starting Monday, you'll be in a real league, starting at the same time as everyone else.
