The originial TD team I expected to do well. Even loaded them up recently, and finally reached a point where I actually capped out my team when I wanted to swap in the better Carter card, but had to drop Arenado lest I end up over the cap. I think they could be even better if my starting pitching gets up to average, which they should be able to.
The River Devs, though, I don't know why they're doing well. I expect them to be a lot more "middle of the pack", and really didn't expect them to challenge for a wildcard spot. They've got one of the lower totals out there, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if they follow up their 8 game win streak with like a 10 game losing streak. Gold Devs recently went through a big selloff, but have added some guys recently. I'm hopeful that they can get back to around .500 by the end of the year. |

It's been an interesting season so far. I keep expecting my Clippers to fall out of the race, but they're hanging in there. It's possible that the NC West will end up having 3 playoff teams. Your main team and the Gryphons Red will probably be battling it out to the end. Overall my Clippers are 13-13 against your 3 teams. Your River Devs team has given the Clippers the hardest time of all teams so far (but they were all close contests). Nevertheless, it does seem they're closer to the Clippers in talent level.

Well it sure ain't my Gryphs giving you a hard time! You have me 8-7 on the year now. I think my team gets rolling and then your boys seem to knock me off stride every time. My starting pitching has been great on the season but you seem to have a knack for winning a lot of tight games on the year. Man, the amount of constant leap-frogging in this division is nuts. Nobody seems to be able to get on top and get any kind of momentum. It's fun to watch. It's funny, I think my Red team has more guys playing above normal this season, but the Gold team is running away with the AC West, and this Red team is struggling to stay in playoff contention. Need to get a run of some kind going. And gotta stay away from these stinking Clippers already! |

I don't think I've seen a division before where the last place team(s) were 10 games over .500. So my Clippers and the Bandits and the River Devs are in a virtual tie for last and yet we're also tied for the #2 WC spot behind the #1 WC spot which is held by the 2nd place team in the West. Maybe we should call this division the Wild West?
The Clippers have only given up 41 runs in the last 20 games which moved our pitching to #2 in RA, but our offense which was humming along at #3 early in the year, is now #14 in R. So our offense is performing as expected, while our pitching is overperforming. This is why we're bound to cool off and fall out of the playoff race at some point.

not sure I've ever see the top 5 teams in a conference in the same division before.... going to be a crazy finish
gotta keep giving kudos to the overachievers: -Kenner Gators (18 cap points) at 70-42 are at 3.89 wins per point -Durham Tattered Gloves (19 cap points) at 59-55 are at 3.11 wins per point each leading their divisions.... great job being well under the cap and making it a success... keep it up. (and while my boys are also over-achieving their expectations with 3.71 wins per point, with a 52-63 record, it doesn't look like they'll put up a challenge for a wild card, much less a division title... but stranger things have happened.) edit: and I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Chesapeake Clippers... 15 cap points, 61-51 record for 4.07 wins per point to lead the league Last edited by stl jason; 02-08-2019 at 01:07 PM. |

I wish there was an easy way to download (for solo league play) all the cool logos I've seen in PT. This season, I especially like the Waffletown Syrups logo (cool name too) and the Flatville Maroons logo. Where did you guys get these logos? I checked and they're not in cephasjames logo pack.

Going by wins per cap point, the Clippers are overachieving as well at 4.07 per point (we have 15 points which is more than only 1 other team, the Syrups). Edit: Hmm... I didn't see your edit in your post when I put this here. And yet there it is in my quote of your post.

the team name is from the Charlie Brown/Peanuts comics... his favorite player was Joe Shlabotnik (not much of a player), who tried his hand at managing the Waffletown Syrups for one game (didn't last long )

Yes, I'd like to have that logo! Thanks for the offer. Interesting that a real team used that logo. I didn't even think of that. And the team name came from Peanuts? Cool!

It's official I hate the Clippers. Just got swept in a 4-game set. Oh, and by the way old timer... checked out the power rankings this week? There's a huge climber at #2 right now. Jerks!

Too funny! Sorry about that. No, I hadn't noticed we were #2. It's pretty funny because I know we're not this good. In fact, the best WPcts I've ever had were .543 and .546 and right now we're at .544. So I keep waiting for some of you guys to show my guys where we really belong - in the cellar. Edit: OK, I just realized something. We ARE in the cellar.

LOL!! In the cellar and only a couple games off a playoff spot. How weird is this division?? Top four teams in the wild card race for two spots! |

You guys unleashed a school of imposter Trouts to hurt my chance at 5xMVP. Somehow my Garry Maddox beat out a 7th Trout.

My Clippers have a 4 game set with your Laurelton Corsairs and just as expected, they squeaked out another win against us, 1-0 in 10 innings. I wouldn't be surprised if we lose all 4 games by a total of 4 runs. Why not just blow us out, it would be less painful. But your guys just like to toy with us, I guess.

Kubinka T-44's reporting in. Forums are blocked at work so I haven't had a chance to post.
Surprised to be in the Wild Card hunt, I'm ok with my 1-9 lineup but have been experimenting with some bronze pitchers and it may be costing me. I love to tinker, so I'm thinking of just going hands-off for a month and see where that gets me. |

woot!
just took 2 of 3 from Flagstaff (the big dogs of the league).... I'll take the little victories, cause that's about all my boys are going to get ![]() My ace, Dizzy Trout, now leads the league in wins with 18 (of the 61 team wins) |

26 of my last 32 games are against NC West rivals. I don't feel confident about our chances against those teams.
After a series against Durham, I noticed that we have pretty similar stats in many key areas, like R, HR, AVG, RA, BABIP, DefEff, etc. We both have high average, low power, low run scoring offenses and strong defense/pitching. We also have nearly identical records and low cap point totals. Now if we can both hang in there, maybe we'll meet again in the playoffs.
