Today I joined Perfect Team

I got the game on sale for $5 and I can already see how Perfect Team will be addicting.
I don't ever see myself using real currency but I can see why it would be a lure to some.
I am learning quite a bit about baseball as I pull players from packs.
I had a lot of fun opening my starter packs.
Best player by far was 1972 Jon Matlack and then I spent 15 minutes researching him.

I also pulled a Tori Hunter and Gary Sanchez.
I will spend this week in the entry league and see how we do. For 5,000 points and a guaranteed gold card the 5,000 point card pack seems to be a pretty fair in game currency price with a real world 'value' of $5.00 USD.

And OOTPD did make it upfront what your odds are of pulling certain player levels.

So far after being extremely leery of this new game mode I have to say I could get a lot of enjoyment out of it.

My only complaints so far are stability issues. I have had the game crash on me twice in the auction house just browsing players.
I also have had the game dissconnect from the servers numerous times.

I also cannot find an easy in game button to try and connect back to the servers.
Or is this done automatically?

If there is a button can someone tell me where it is? Simply a way to get the game to attempt to reconnect to the servers.

For a first time effort I do like this new mode. the 'free to play' aspect seems fine for a game with a base price and it seems like given enough time you can compete with those who spend real money or simply find your fun in the lower leagues.

welcome aboard....

can't say i've had any disconnect/server issues from my end.... only issue I've run into is the game gets stuck 'simulating' sometimes... if it hasn't given the 'download current...' pop up after 3-4 minutes past the top/bottom of the hour, I just click the 'logoff' button in the lower left of the startup screen and log right back in; and it typically comes back up with 26ish minutes to go until the next sim....

I don't know if the servers are located in Germany or North America. But I am getting disconnected a lot. Maybe it's just an issue with today. Many people are home here in Zurich and families are using the internet and even fiber optic can become congested with bandwidth and traffic.

You will reconnect automatically, usually before the message is a few seconds old.

Hey welcome. I'm finding the game mode a ton of fun also. I find the regular packs a bit better odds than the "gold" pack.....but you can get terrible luck with that strategy.....I just pulled a 100 Trout 20 minutes ago after deciding to buy five packs since I'm getting killed in my diamond league.

Oddly enough I think I found the reason for the dissconnects and the game refusing to accept my team information and resetting it to the Glendale Ivy.

I had an umlaut in the city name.
Zürich would fail every time upon trying to submit my team.
Zurich works perfectly

Should I even bother to report that as a bug? Very odd

Welcome. I just added Matlack to my team as well. Here is hoping he pitches well for both our teams.

I also have crashing in the Auction House. I think it comes from getting a little too click happy on the Plus and Minus symbols when viewing specific players.

It's kind of a known bug that OOTP has issues with non basic ASCII characters in some places. It's something we want to fix, but not an easy or quick fix by any means. So probably no need to report it, since we are aware of it.

Yeah, the AH crashing seems to happen when you click a second player's + icon before the first player's detailed description opens. We're working on isolating the issue and getting a fix for it, but probably won't happen till the new year at the earliest.

My team is terrible but I am still having fun and checking on them 5-6 times a day.
And oh yeah, for $5 USD I still get all of the other single player OOTP stuff as well.

Looking back at it I am not sure why I was so against this mode.
