I hope you are. We have had fun competing. You are still the only team to sweep me in a series this season. Not even the mighty Horde have been able to do that in the 2 series against them.

A 13-12 July did not do me well. Dropped into 3rd place in the division and on the outside looking in for the WC.
Here's hoping for a better August. |

It looks like Jaws may have acquired some upgrades too in knocking you to 3rd during your annual July swoon.

I'm hoping for a better draft choice as a result of this season.

I am hoping Santa Claus brings me a another really good left handed starter for the Diamond league. My Randy Johnson was a huge disappointment this season during the first half sporting a 5+ ERA after 2 sterling seasons.. He was pitcher of the month in July though so it seems he might finally be settled in. I am not wanting to put my Kershaw in the rotation on a full time basis. However, I did put him back on active for the first time this season today in the pen for now. I need 2 lefties in the rotation for the playoffs to deal with the Horde and/or Adirondack. One of them will be gone before I meet the other if I do.

Question on team building:
I've made the wild card both seasons and I am in the mix in a gold league for another WC spot. There are some players available for auction around 10,000 or so, but they aren't THAT much better than who I have, and some have worse ratings. I haven't spent any real money but it seems the only way to get the monster players is either spend real money or get lucky with packs. It's hard to wait and save all your points to get to 30,000 and get a great player. Would you wait and earn more points, spend 13,000 on 13 silver packs or spend 5,000 on a gold and 8,000 on silver? |

There is nothing quite like freefall - since July 3, the Raccoons are 8-22.
At times yesterday we were still within three games (and five teams) of a wild card, and you were excused for some brief delusion and thinking we'd make it. Now we are actively zooming towards the relegation battle.

My Thrashers are clinging to a one-game lead in the division -
The division is likely our only realistic path to the playoffs. I've decided that I've resisted long enough, and finally began adding some diamond players to my roster. Kind of ruined the historical tilt to my team, but we've added Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt to the lineup, and Carlos Carrasco and Tom Seaver to the rotation. Hopefully four smaller upgrades are better than one big upgrade. |

I found out something this week. The worse my team does the less often I feel compelled to check in.

The caveat being is if there is a particular player you're targeting, you may decide to save up and try your luck on the AH. At least, if you see him, bid, and don't get it, you're not out PP. Last edited by Thalion; 12-21-2018 at 02:22 PM. |

So you never know. If you want a sure thing go to the AH, but if you want to swing for the fences go the pack route, but don't be disappointed if you strike out. |

yeah... if you're trying to improve incrementally, then the AH is probably the better deal as you know what you're getting... if you're at the point where any improvement is going to cost a lot of points in the AH, you might want to take your chances with packs (might not get what you want/need to improve, but any rare card could be turned into a boatload of points to go get what you do want.... of course, if you end up with nothing but bronze cards as the best returns, you'll second guess yourself for quite awhile I speak from experience )

I've been doing that all week. Definitely helps to fully commit to your plan. I know I'm going to reach the point where packs will be best, but I just can't commit yet.

I consistently spend all of my achievement points on packs. I keep track of the points that I get from autoselling and auctioning the excess, and that is what I spend in the auction house.

make the plan... stick to it.... building a pre-ww2 team with one of mine and was down to just needing catchers.... watched the AH as a few prime candidates mocked me with their price tag figured I'd try my luck with some packs (just 4 but still, when you're trying to save points on just what you generate in-game, it takes a lot longer to make 4000 points than it does to blow it on packs )... got squat from them so had to start from square one again...on the plus side, it didn't take too long to rack up enough points again, and I was able to snag Mickey Cochrane from the AH last night to round out the starting squad... now I might go back to gambling with packs a bit, but we'll see.... |

Yes, that is a danger. The one thing that has kept me checked in really is that I'm basically in a competition at the other end of the standings trying to stay out of relegation.
