Challenge Mode PP Packs

is there a link or thread that indepth discusses this? Obtained only one pack and have played through three seasons. Would like to strategy around playing specifically for packs to improve the pp team. Any help is appreciated!

The drop rate is simply too low, that's all there is to it.

They set it to a very minimal chance at getting a card pack as to not upset the economy, but at the same time it's really not in a fun or rewarding place atm when you play for 20 hours for 1 card pack. Hopefully the devs take a hard look at this.

There is no specific way to earn a pack. They’re acquired by random achievements. Can be any achievement, though the level of the achievement improves your chances of getting a pack.

Playing Challenge Mode isn't meant to be a reliable way to get packs for PT, just a fun little bonus that ties the two together.

It's not much of a bonus nor is it much fun at these particular rates.

Point is, play Challenge Mode for the fun of playing Challenge Mode. If you're playing Challenge Mode just to get packs then you're doing it wrong.

I never said I was playing just to get packs. I'm saying that 1 pack in 20 hours of play is too low. Shill all you want, disagree all you want, but it's needlessly low.

I think they said that there is a cool down but would not say what it was. Maybe after winning a pack you can't win another for a week or more.

They will never tell us what they cool down amount is.

It’s definitely not that long. A day at most.

I've gotten packs 3 days apart. I think there may be a kind of soft cooldown where the odds increase slowly based on how long it has been since your last pack. It's hard to say if it's based on real time or number of achievements since you last earned a pack. I'd bet it could be a combination of the two.

I got two packs the first night it went live (monday, saturday?) Then at least 2 since, maybe 3. I'm basically getting one every 2 seasons it seems. With seemingly much better odds when I'm winning. Which makes sense, CY, MVP, Manager of the year, WS's all grant achievements.

At this point I'm pretty much playing Vanilla OOTP just for the packs. I enjoy it, but I'm pushing through the seasons for the year-end awards. If I was playing purely for fun I'd easily have 8x as many trades, deal with my minor leagues and coaching staff, etc...

I wonder if there is a separate cool down for each game you play. If you have 3 PT's and switch the account you log in as, after each card is received, you should receive a pack every day. (Assuming you stop playing, every time you receive a pack). Or just play challenge mode once every 3 days until you get a pack and stop.

I simmed a season as the '27 yankees last night (a friend's suggestion), and got a pack toward the end of the season.

I'm actually pretty psyched about this -- I'm an avid solo player of OOTP, and this is going to make it a lot of fun. Getting a pack every season or two will be fun.

Has it really been discovered what achievements are needed to get a PT pack or is it truly just random for a good season?

Does anyone know if you need to play out all the games or if you can just sim them to get packs?

It sounds like the idea behind this is simply to encourage people to play OOTP, not to give points for whooping up on the AI.

It that's true then I wish they'd open this up to all kinds of solo play. I build solo leagues to be challenging because otherwise I'd be bored, but I don't like the restrictiveness of Challenge mode. Especially having to stop play every week. For a GM only player, that's like doing a cross country drive and having to stop at a red light every 100 ft.

Challenge mode is the only way to make sure commissioner mode is turned off I guess.

In my last year I played, I won the WS in game 7, and to my delight, got a gold player pack for doing so.
