Dead Ball Era Athletics (pre-1940 project)

I just wanted to share my project team. It has been a lot more fun then my normal perfect team up to this point and I'm going to be super sad to see it dismantled at the end of beta. Of course I will rebuild it!

As with the name it was originally meant to be a dead ball era team before I realized that I couldnt find that many players from 1901-1920 so I expanded to 1940. I'm still struggling to find a catcher from that far back in the auction house/card packs so Pena/Battey are the odd balls on the team.

Team was never designed with winning in mind it was just supposed to be fun... Pitchers have been amazing though.

Welcoming 1B George Sisler to the team. Overpaid 19000 for him but cant keep the points after beta. George Burns moves to the reserve team.

Christy Mathewson and Tris Speaker will join the team for the 1 day season after playoffs. Reset day will be a sad day.

Very interesting project. I was lucky to be in the same league with you and kept a close eye on your team. I figured we would meet in the finals but I got eliminated too early (A-Rod/Vlad and the perfect DeGrom was too much for me).

If I remember correctly, I saw your team reach 200+ stolen bases and figured you would bypass 250 with all the speed across the team (only some of your SS were missing some speed).

Have you considered adjusting your ballpark based on your final season stats?

Can you help me understand why you dropped the Doubles/Triples down to .500?
Your best player had just a few triples for the entire year while they should have been higher based on their real stats. Your Stolen Bases were probably much closer aligned to the players real data during that time.

Good luck building the second team.

Just wanted to see how it would end up by doing something drastic. Ill probably do something a bit more realistic after the reset.

In other news I hope to get this caught up with the most recent info soon. Had some issues with baggage and airlines and stuff and just havnt had the capability to really update this.

Ok right before entry league play ends I am finally up and running. We've been gathering players here and there and have a roster 90% built. Again, the struggle to find pre 1940 catchers is really hurting us and we could use an upgrade at Shortstop and 2nd Base.

yeah, know what you mean on the catcher... trying a similar path with one of my teams (1950s or earlier to start... pushing towards pre WW2 eventually)... still haven't found a catcher for that timeframe yet... but it's still early.

edit: btw- nice roster! Gives me some players to shoot for when I earn enough to snag one from the AH or get lucky with a pack.
