Lightbulb Promotion on Monday!

The original idea to change promotion on Monday was dismissed. Thanks everyone for the feedback! All teams will go to the bronze level on Monday and the journey will start as planned, right at the bottom

I think it's a really good change. I mean, there wasn't much point to an entry pool anyway if all it does is drop you in bronze unconditionally.

So one third of teams will go to the Gold level, another third to the Silver and the rest to the Bronze. We think this makes sense and will seperate the extremely competitive teams from the rest of the pack from the start.

Have a nice weekend!

It is just like the kid in the store with Mommy. They pass the toys and little junior wants one. Mommy says no so he starts screaming and screams louder and louder until mommy relents and tells him OK to pick one. Little junior is all smiles. Then they pass the candy aisle and little junior wants some candy. Mommy says no. Guess what? Little junior starts screaming again because he knows that is the way to get mommy to say yes.

What are you going to do next week, Markus?

Yea not really a fan of this change without it being announced. If records in the entry pool mattered, people would have approached it differently...

Exactly. I think a lot of people viewed entry pool as an equivalent to spring training. I know I did, and didn't think my record mattered. Now two days into the league it determines placement?

I wouldn't have cared if it was that way from the start, or if that was how the beta was run, but this feels wrong. And it really feels wrong to try something new for the first time after go live.

Not only that, they are taking complete levels of competition completely away from what 20%, 30%, 40% or who knows how many of their customers to appease a small vocal few. It does not cheat anybody when some players have built a better team no matter how they done it within the rules as set forth. But what Markus and company are doing now is totally cheating a large group of people out of part of the experience. Most of these thousands of players never come to the forums. Monday they are to be wondering what the heck just happened. Knee jerk reactions to silence a vocal minority are almost always the wrong thing to do..

I don't think it's that big of a deal guys.

Just by the nature of how this is structured, if you are too good for the bronze, you'll find yourself in the silver and gold in the coming weeks. The people who were pretenders in the entry pool and end up in the gold could find themselves in the bronze league in the coming weeks.

Look on the plus side: If you are too good for the bronze league, you'll rack up PP.

Yes but in the beginning, more people are going to be promoted to the top leagues to fill them up, once they are settled, promotion gets much more difficult. Now these people get a leg up on that? My record in the opening isn't bad and I'll likely be placed in a silver league, but this still seems wrong.

It just means the stacked teams will be in a higher level and it will make it more difficult in all areas for them to get awarded PPs. That's why some are bitching.

I don’t have a problem with the idea but I do have a problem with the timing. I would have approached spring training differently had I known this would happen.

Exactly. Now part of the game has been taken from you and everybody else that took any amount of money and worked the AH to buy more cards for more chances or were lucky enough to pull a high card to sell and build their team. Either way; big spender, little spender with lots of AH hours, or a very lucky pull with your free 1000 PP and you are being punished because you excelled. I thought the idea was to work our way up 1 level at a time which gives most of us a chance to earn PP to compete with the rich guys someday. Now, we that have put in hours on their team are kicked to the curb so some players can feel better about themselves. Anybody can build a competing team with patience if they do not have the time others have to work the AH or the money to move faster.

just curious (and this is open for everyone/anyone to reply)... if they had announced from the start this was how the initial promotion from the entry pool would work... what would you have done differently in your approach for the first few days?

I take your expertise on that.

They would have left their iron cards on the active roster so they would be in the bronze league and then collect PP awards easily as they bashed the very lower teams.
