That's an average of nearly 5.9 per team. I'd have to double check the numbers, but as I recall, on average, clubs start the season with an average of about 3 players on the DL, whereas on Aug. 31st the average rises to roughly 5 players on the DL.

All's I'm saying is to cut some of us newbs some slack
I think I made this thread about 5 years ago, the “why does the AI undervalue my elite closer’s trade value?” thread my first year, and I probably make the “Bitching about the AI sending completely imbalanced trade offers” every year since the beginning.

Everything I can possibly do has already been done before.

mlb -- the only pro sport an 'athlete' can hurt themselves jogging 90 feet.

if they were physically fit and well-stretched like the other 3 major sports, they'd get hurt significantly less. baseball isn't even a contact sport..even soccer is tougher on the body - way more jogging involved. <puked in my mouth a little bit>

Whilst I am not saying that football is 'harder' to play than baseball the figures show that football players on average do about 7 miles of running in 90 mins (with midfielders going past 9 miles).

Clearly you don't like football which is fair enough but to even compare the physical demands of baseball with football is ridiculous.

Well, most injuries are not running injuries (pauses for LGO to correct me on that completely random statement). I know most other sports don't have player whipping a projectile at 100mph, and as you can see from the list of guys out for the season, it's basically all elbow/arm injuries that are the real killers.

As for injury rate/frequency/intensity, this is something that we do routinely check. I know in the last year we've done lots of checks for the number of long term injury, the number of DL days total, the number of short vs long DL stints, etc... and the values we create work out pretty close to realistic. I do still occasionally feel that we "hit" the better players more than real life, but then again, you look at real life, and it's not like guys like Kershaw, Bumgarner, etc... are immune to injury there.

And I know when playing, some years I prepare for it and have like 7 MLB-capable starters on my team. And the worst injury in my rotation is a guy missing a week for a broken nail. And other years I have my top 5 OF injured at the same time and I'm desperately searching the free agent pool for anyone who can play there to round out my roster.

I believe Injury Log is the go-to poster for matters relating to injuries in baseball.

Matt...which injury frequency setting do you use? Default (classic), or high (modern day)
