I came across smth weird when I attempted to trade for a two-way player.

If you look at the screenshots you see how differently the cpu values the same player if you set him to 1B/SP respectively.

Must be a bug? But it seems unlikely that nobody has discovered that before..

Are all 2 way players stopped until 2020 when Ohtani pitches again? I kid I kid.

But yeah I noticed that trade bug and a Rule 5 bug as well. The AI if the player say is set to RP and is low potential doesn't protect the player by adding to the 40 even if say he is a 3.5 prospect in the OF.

Its like since he isn't set to OF the AI only treats him as a RP.

Yeah if anything the AI should value the player at his best position and then add some value for also being able to pitch or vice versa. Here's an update on the 2-way guy I traded for and posted earlier in the thread for anyone interested. Not a superstar but a pretty useful guy off the bench.

I think another factor is that good pitchers are so important that if you show any potential to be a good pitcher they really want you to focus on that unless your hitting is truly exceptional and your pitching is marginal.

Ohtani is special because he is excellent at both. That is extremely rare.
This!

I have strenuously looked for and found a dozen guys who have two-way skills, but not at the MLB level. Sure, at AA or even AAA they might have decent stats. But I haven't found even an MLB average-level pitcher who could hit well enough to DH in the majors, or an MLB average position player who could pitch well enough to take up a roster spot as a pitcher. Using their limited time to work on a non MLB skill seems counter-productive to me.

It should be exceeding rare.

The 2 guys I see who became successful in various saves most often are Mateo Gil (seen him as successful RP couple times as a SP and also Starting SS/2B) and seth halvorsen same thing basically all star as SS/2B and SP.

Happened to be real life players who both just got drafted the other week. Both HS guys I know Halvorsen got drafted by Twins but he is going to go to college. Gil is going to TCU maybe the Cards drafted him.

A lot of these HS guys are the best athletes its not uncommon for the best pitcher to also be the best SS at HS hell they also can be star QB or WR half the time. I know Gil was the teams closer. Think Halvorsen was a starter on his squad.

MY new file I turned 2 way off to see how it will play out. Its probably not worth the trouble it causes to leave it turned on but I have no evidence to support it just gut feeling.

It has created more issues than it was worth, IMO. Just my opinion.
This isn't the first year there have been two way players in OOTP. It's just that this is the first year you can check a box that makes them do both.
