Ratings readjusted
Did anyone find their scouting ratings readjusted after you imported your old season into OOTP19? I've found some of my players having different OVR and POT ratings than they did back in OOTP18.
Is this normal? |

Matt redid how a lot of the ratings were calculated behind the scenes to make them make more sense and display more consistently now.

Okay, makes sense.
Any other details as to what is more emphasized and what is less emphasized? Or more important now than it was before? |

I wouldn't say stuff is more or less emphasized than before, mostly it's just been rebalanced. So we did some work to make sure the value we place on defense is more correct, and that that's weighed more correctly vs offense. There was also some work in re-adjusting the league totals, and thus if you have relative ratings on, that will also tweak the logic there as well.

Okay, I can definitely see that. I had a player who was about a .250 hitter (a little below average in my league) with a little pop (a little above avg # of HRs relative to my league) and poor OBP, but was STELLAR with the glove and he was rated around a 72-74 OVR on a 20-80 scale. That seemed a bit too high. Now he's rated as a 60 OVR with a POT of 70. That seems more like it |

Did you make an adjustment so that starters with high stamina are weighted heavier than those with lower stamina? I'm trying to figure out why a starter (Player A) with 204 stuff, 146 movement, and 126 control has the same potential as a starter (Player B) with 173 stuff, 139 movement, and 119 control. The differences between them are 175 stamina for the Player B and 100 for Player A. Player B is also durable and Player A is normal for injury. Are injury ratings finally taken into account for ratings?

The answer is yes, starting pitchers now have their potential influenced by their stamina. Also, relievers have their potential influenced by stamina, which I'm not a huge fan of.

They really should, too; in the case of those two SPs, a 100 stamina rating is right at the threshold between a guy being a somewhat effective 5 inning starter and a guy you have to put into the bullpen.

It's not just about having more or less weight - the distribution has changed a bit too, and we factor in a little more positionally too. So we make sure that defense is more valuable for a SS than a 1B, for example, and that someone who really shouldn't be able to play a position will actually hurt his overall value.
