Quick MLB (pre-draft) roster update released!

Has anyone chimed in on how some of the other games handle warming up pitchers? Strat, Action Pc, Diamond Mind etc.? If so, how do they differ from the way OOTP does it? Just curious.

Have we gotten to the GM personalities so they are not virtually all the same? It was reported back in April after release.

Also, I've tried 4 or 5 times now. The game will not start in Challenge Mode with this template installed.

A. I don't think so. Might be able to sneak in some work on it though, we'll see.

B. Yeah, you can't start challenge mode from any template.

A. Please please please PLEASE. Its been an unaddressed issue since release.

B. Even starting a "standard" game? Like, I cant start a Standard Challenge Mode Game at all anymore with this new template set as the default.

You can still start a standard game in Challenge mode, but you can't start a Standard game with this template if that makes sense.

I know, but there's so much to do and so few of us, we can't get to everything

Like I said though, I'll see what I can do. I can't promise anything though, getting the rest of the guys in the draft and the correct current ratings for the rest of the MiLB players is a big priority.

I'm not really sure it's worth taking time from that to do the GM's, but if I need a change of pace I might take a shot at some of the GM's. Suggestions on who needs to be set where would be helpful btw. The less research I have to do the more likely I can get something done.

Ok, never mind, that doesn't make sense I think I spoke too soon.

It may be that the game won't allow you to start a challenge mode game with a modified template. I'm guessing that's actually the issue. If so it's simply WAD, to keep someone from being able to cheat by loading a template where they know all the ratings.

So there's no way to attribute the file or anything to make the game THINK its the original template?

And going back to the GM issue, it looks like an unfinished project to me. There are a handful of GM's that actually have adjusted ratings. The rest are all the same. The problem is, if I want to play in Challenge Mode, which I do, I cant make changes to those ratings and STILL play in challenge mode.

IIRC the ratings were all different in OOTP17, but now that we've hit 18 it looks like someone started them and never finished.

I don't think so. Even if there was I wouldn't tell anyone though, since as I think this is an anti-cheating measure.

When the patch comes out this update will be the standard (with even more changes and players added) and you'll be able to use it in Challenge Mode then.

I suspect you're right on the GM's, but again it's just going to be a matter of time and priorities. As I edited in my above post, feedback on where and how guys should be set would be helpful and make it more likely I could get to it.

Maybe just starting with the OOTP17 ratings imported over? I would think that this would matter quite a bit because then I could hire an assistant GM who is going to give me advice, and when I pick them, I could pick them based on their tendencies so that they match what my goals are for the team.

Can you tell us a few more details about Roster Update? I want to know if it is worthwhile to strat some games over...(how many players have been adjusted, major leaguers updated, anything else good to know, ect.)

Umm, thousands of minor league, indy league, draft eligible and international league players were updated (mostly MiLB current ratings to get players to stick at their real levels or closer to them at least) and hundreds of draft eligible players added. Quite a few MLB guys had some minor adjustments based on performance.

So no, I really can't give you a list, there's too much and we don't really keep track of it.

If you're really into the draft it's probably worth starting over. If not, then maybe less so.

Lukas.. anything on allowing AI evaluation settings changes while in Challenge Mode?

I don't think that would be an exploit as we are just changing the way the AI evaluates players.. which would also be the same for us in Challenge Mode, but the default settings are good for the first season and then slowly start to degrade the AI.. at least I believe it is with a heavy weight on stats.

Curt Shilling's game, High Heat, had the pitcher sit down after a period. You would warm a guy up and if you didn't bring him in after a certain amount of time you would get a message that the guy warming up was tiring and sat down.

Huh. Someone didn't review the source material!

The thread is clearly in favor of changing the current system to make it more realistic by at least 60/40 and that's a conservative estimate.

I am looking forward to see what tweak they have made to the UI to try and address this issue. Hopefully it'll be an improvement in that it's a step towards more realistic bullpen management/warmup stamina.
