24 hours or so left and the OOTP team have not released all the new features including minor features and explanations to us. Not many screenshots either.

Sadly it looks like all that info was given to a third party for distribution. A site called operation sports, or something like that.

Hopefully next year they will go back to doing the Marketing like previous years. Previous years, everyone would get emails and the road to release was a lot more popular. This year it seemed lacking, to say the least.

I agree with both of you the excitement isn't the same as past years practically no buildup

Trust me, as someone on the beta team, you guys will enjoy OOTP 18.

What's not to like? The best baseball sim on the planet is 1 year older with multiple improvements and added features.

Operation Sports is quite actually a very popular sports video game site. The exposure OOTP gets over there is a very good thing.

Trust me. There are many over there who love OOTP.

as what another poster said in a different thread ..... would be nice to get the road to release and other things on this site FIRST not some other site that many of us never heard of. Someone had to send link for all of us to look at the RTR series of which only 3 were done. years past the excitement was always there when things were posted here and RTR series of which usually GOOD Bottomline no excitement here for core players and yet things get posted elsewhere and someone had to post link to site. The core players are generating the excitement this year.

Yeah, OOTP is the only big gaming forum that has a good population of sim gamers. It's great to have people over there talking about the game, although I get that keeping it here feels more natural.

I'm perfectly happy with them spending all their time making the game better, rather than posting screenshots and handling marketing "in house". This time tomorrow I won't give the lead up to release a second thought...forgotten forever in my mind.

Oh, and I don't mind if they spend time on a feature or two that I personally have no interest in. They don't owe me anything. I love the game and to each his or her own.

I think (but could be wrong) that the guys who replaced Brad as marketing/publicity are connected with Operation Sports. The impression I've received from my lurkings is (no hard evidence to back it up, though) that the new guys haven't really landed on their feet here on the forums, so have basically abandoned them.

Definitely I can understand the desire to reach a wider audience pre-launch, but it is also sad that the game's biggest fans are seemingly being neglected.

the impatience seems to have peaked to a day prior to the pre-release beta. It's quite impressive actually. In one days time, we won't see any more of these threads because we will all be busy playing the game. Just one more day boys...we've waited this long.

It's like going to a fancy restaurant and being informed that the appetizers are no longer available.

That being said this is the version that I have most looked forward to:

Negro Leagues
Pro/Rel ( and I'm not a soccer/football guy)
Tournaments.

That's a lot of BIG additions.
