Promotion / Relegation question

Will we be able to create a "playdown" scenario?

In a perfect world, the ability to choose between a round-robin tournament or an playoff bracket (albeit one where the losing team is the one that "advances" to the next round) would work for what I'm envisioning.

There is a real-world reason for at least including a round-robin: In Honkbal Hoofdklasse, the bottom four teams play a round-robin tournament and the loser of that tournament is the team that gets relegated, so it's not necessarily the team that finishes a the bottom of the regular season standings.

I'm just thrilled to see this being on the list for the release. My experience is that it will be a very basic model initially with tweaks and improvements to follow. What's important is that promotion/relegation now has a seat at the table.

THANKS TEAM!!!

I just hope it doesn't make the team history pages too confusing - that it's easily identifiable what league they were in

Yeah, I think they're going to have to re-think/re-design a good amount of the reports. I'm sure they're football fans though so I bet they know some good football history sites that they can borrow design ideas from.

I hope they allow multiple options.

My favorite way is just like the German soccer league's relegation. Two teams relegate/promote and the teams ranked third-worst/best of the different leagues face each other.

I can remember reading in another thread that Markus said that all you will be able to do is select how many teams get relegated and to what league. He said if you what to do a play-down you have to do it yourself still. He did say that teams will also try to avoid getting relegated, which is great!

Good idea though, and I'm sure it might come into play in future versions of the game.

Here is what he said:

Now, when the season is over, you can have the game automatically handle the promotion / relegation (based on your settings) or easily select the teams individually (for example if you have played an exhibition tournament to determine the teams).

And yes, the AI is aware about its situation in terms of its chances of promotion / relegation and acts accordingly.

congrats but let's hope after one version you aren't left standing on top of that table begging for some service while the waiters ignore you like they do the association and the split season tables lol

Or maybe he's from the past, coming to the future, to tell us how bad the year 2006 was.

Er, wait...
