Does the allstar editor work well?

Does the new allstar editor work well?

I did a search and could not find an answer.

I remember reading in a thread that editors are not easy to use and can cause problems.

I am not very computer literate...but can follow detailed instructions...and have downloaded logos and stadiums successfully (with help from dbacks and couriers).

Should I try to use Pierre's new allstar editor?

Yes the version 1.01 editor seems to be working fine and it is very easy to use. If you can turn on a computer then you should be able to work the editor!

Thanks, ClassicMLB:

I appreciate the reply.

I think I will try to use it.

(I'm pretty darn good at turning the computer on).

Can someone post a step by step use of the all star editor? I have been trying to use it bu my changes never stick. I run the editor on the off day before the AS game. I sim that off day and the game still picks who it wants for the game regardless of who I had selected.

Thanks!

I posted this in the utility's first thread (http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...198#post400198), but I'll post it here again:

-sim up to the ASG day and close ootp
-open up star.exe
-click option|preferences
-use the browse (...) button to find your league's folder (e.g. E:\Program Files\400 Software Studios\OOTP5\CBL.lg)
-press save and then close
-click file|open and then ok
-select 1 of the all-star teams from the right drop down menu
-click on a player and drag him to the left column (this will remove that player)
-do this for every player (it's quickest this way, trust me)
-do this for the other all-star team
-select a team from the left drop down menu
-select the corresponding all-star team
-click on a player from the left column and drag to the right
-repeat for each all-star player
-click file|save
-click file|exit
-open ootp and run your ASG
-set both teams to human controlled substitutions and "play" out the entire game by pressing continue and making substitutions where fit

Perhaps something like this (you can use all or part of this if you want) could be added to the utility's zip.

No reason why it wouldnt work for solo leagues. It's a mod that directly affects OOTP's .dat files so it should work for any type of OOTP leagues.

Thats because this utility is a great addon foronline leagues that vote on their allstars, it doesnt so much affecxt solo leagues, unlss you'd like it to. I love to choose my own all stars. As a matter of fact, I just tried using this utility last night, but the team got overwrited but I see my mistake after reading those step-by-step instructions, of the players I chose, only aout 5 didn't make it and another 5 that I didn't choose did. How about that? heh... Oh yeah...

Does this overwrite the News Logs to include your chosen team, and does it also change the Player History files?

EDit: Also can I get a link to where I can download version 1.0.1?

Ok i need help, I just used the editor and edited the all stars. Now, when I go to simulate, it just crashes. Even if I go to play, the program says "Performed an illegal operation" or whatever it says. Any help?

I used it the day of the all star game. Should it be used the day before? I just followed the stepbystep insturctions up above. Any ideas?

Edit: Ok, if I play the game myself, I can simulate up to the 5th, but if I sim any further, it performs an illegal operATION. Any help, please!

Edit2: Ok, I read through the first thread. It appears that you have to play the game with substitutions on human. Is there anyway to simulate the all star game after editting the teams? If not, Pierre, would you be able to figur eout the problem and release a new version? I love this utility, if only it kworked.

Edit3: Ok, it doesn't update the news section and player histories. PIERRE, any way you can edit the program so that it will?
