For some reason I see Freddie Mercury being an excellent slap hitter...
I don't have a nickname for them, but Queen has to be in this.

What?! No Van Halen?!
Considering the history of VH's use of Eddie's famous stripes, think about THOSE uniforms!! ![]()

Iron Maiden could be the Ancient Mariners. And the uniforms already exist...

great idea for a fictional league, I kind of see the legendary bluesmen, as negro league players, some great names of Bluesmen....
Shakey Jake Harris, Hip Linkchain, Little Walter Magic Sam, Pinetop Perkins, Houndog Taylor, Snookie Pryor, Willie Dixon Big Walter Horton, Bo Diddley Holle Thee Maxwell, John Lee Hooker Howlin Wolf Kansas City Red, Moody Jones, Elmore James Buster Benton, George "Mojo" Buford, Carolina Slim, Pee Wee Crayton, "Champion" Jack Dupree, Forest City Joe, Piano Red, Frankie Lee Sims, Houston Stackhouse, Lonesome Sundown, Smokey Wilson, Scrapper Blackwell, Lee McBee, Boogie Woogie Red, Lefty Dizz, Lefty Bates, David "Honeyboy" Edwards "Blind" John Davis (great name for a power pitcher whose a little wild!) and many more... in fact I'm going to do this rock and roll thing myself, I wonder what type of player Elvis will be? |

Jacksonville Brothers (for the Allman Brothers) Atlanta Outkasts Portland (Oregon) Kingsmen Seattle Experience (for Jimi Hendrix, who still trumps Nirvana, IMHO) Queens (New York) Ramones (or Dee Dees, or Joeys) Within Queens, you could have the Hollis Kings of Rock (for Run-DMC) Champaign Speedwagons (probably a minor league outfit) Athens (Georgia) B-52s (much better nickname than the REMs) In honor of the OOTP's German game creators, how about: Hanover Scorpions Dusseldorf Kraftwerk (or Kraftwerkers) or the Dusseldorf Neu! Soligen Accept and, of course, the Hagen Luftballoons (for Nena) In Scotland, the Auchtermuchty Proclaimers has a nice ring to it. In England, you could have the Manchester Smiths (or Manchester New Order, or Manchester Stone Roses, that's a tough city to choose from). Whatever the team there is called, they must play in the Joy Division, that much is clear. I'm sure I'll think of more while walking the dog. It's a great idea for a league. Cheers. Minneapolis Purple Reign (or just Purple Rain, if you like) or the Paisley Park Purple Reign for added alliteration.
And, then, during the strike year, you could field the Minneapolis Replacements. Last edited by risp2out; 07-04-2016 at 09:04 AM. |

I'm torn between the Detroit Stooges and the Detroit Wonder (for Stevie). Both are deserving.
