If you were making a rock band based game...

Who would you put in?
Where would you put the teams?
How would you divide it?

I think you need a British Invasion division/league

Name The Kinks team the Muswell Hillbillies or the Waterloo Sunsets.

Here is what I determined in the past few hours.

Promotion/Relegation

Teams Starting In there Tiers will be determined by the bands whom I consider that type of quality.

I'm still on the fence about naming the teams after a signature song.

That sounds like a fun league.

Two leagues, 8 teams each, British and American.

Given my 60's-70's music proclivities I'd include:

British League

Beatles (Liverpool)
Rolling Stones (Dartford)
Pink Floyd (Westminster)
Queen (Ealing)
Yes (Soho)
Fleetwood Mac (London)
The Who (Acton)
Moody Blues (Birmingham)

American League

Beach Boys (Hawthorne)
Eagles (Los Angeles / California)
Credence Clearwater Revival (El Cerrito)
Chicago (Chicago)
Jefferson Airplane (San Francisco)
Doors (Los Angeles / Venice Beach)
Guess Who (Winnipeg)
Temptations (Detroit)

Mine So Far... I stripped down to 8 teams per league

Tier 1
Arcade Fire (Montreal)
Beatles (Liverpool)
Rolling Stones (Dartford)
Pink Floyd (Westminister)
Led Zeppelin (London)
Nirvana (Seattle)
Radiohead (Oxford)
U2 (Dublin)

Tier 2
Fleetwood Mac (London)
AC/DC (Sydney)
Aerosmith (Boston)
Black Keys (Akron)
Velvet Underground (New York)
Grateful Dead (Palo Alto)
Eagles (Los Angeles)

I'm still figuring out the last 9 teams.

Rush are huge baseball fans and live in Toronto. Especially Geddy Lee.

I'd divide it by era or style. The blues-rock division, Punk Division, Outlaw Country Division, grunge division, ect.

There's always the option for a Krautrock division and/or a post-rock division.

I've done a rockband-based league before.

Off the top of my head, some of my favorite teams were:

Abbey Road Apples (Beatles)
Main Street Exiles (Stones)
Woodstock Stardust (CSNY)
Xanadu Rush (Rush)
Babylon Sisters (Steely Dan)

Had a whole league of these, but that was another time, another laptop.

I'm noting a distinct lack of late-70s / early-80s bands here. Where are The Police? Dire Straits? The Clash? ZZ Top? LYNYRD SKYNYRD, for heaven's sake?

The league would fail instantly without a team full of players with long beards in Houston. ZZ Top!

What a great concept

For me it would have to be all about the city bands came from so

San Francisco Journey
Seattle Nirvana (although I prefer Macklmore)
Boston Aerosmith
LA Guns and Roses (would be the first LA team I actually like)
Arkansas Cash
Baton Rouge Tim McGraws (yeah not rock, but my favorite and his dad was a big leaguer)
Minnesota Prince
New Jersey Bosses
New York Billy Joels (affectionately called the BJs in more mature circles)
Houston Straights

It would just be seriously experimental.
