OOTP developers keeping stat on us?

I was wondering, since this is such a stats based game, would there be value in the OOTP developers receiving "stats" on how we play this game we enjoy so much?

By stats I guess I mean out keystrokes and/or someway to know that I've created a fictional league vs a 2016 MLB league. I imagine that this specific, data-based, information would somehow be useful to the developers. If nothing else they could see that "Feature A" is getting used extensively while "Feature B" not so much and make development decisions with this knowledge available to them.

I am (obviously?) no computer genius, but to me it seems that feedback given is subjective and sample size limited to those that respond. I played this game for years before joining the forum and I imagine there are many other players that don't join the forum - so there voices are silent.
In today's world of Big Brother I'm sure this ability either exist or could be implemented easily.

Also, would, we, the players want this?

I would.

They do this and have discussed some of the data with us. No biggie.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

Have you not read that popup when installing the game? Yes, it's in there, but it's opt-in only (or opt-out, I forget, it's one or the other).

For almost every other program I say no to those things, but to OOTP I say yes. I feel like I know and trust the OOTP people, but other software developers I don't know at all. I almost want to say no to OOTP too though because I test things with MLB leagues and don't use features enough that I like which skews the data to things that aren't indicative of what I want improved. But for most people, yeah, it's probably best to okay it.

Yeah I rarely allow data collection. OOTPD have earned that privilege.

Indeed, I do not care how much time they see I waste on this game
Just makes them make it better each year!

i hope they don't base too much on the forums (not the black-and-white stuff, if that must be said)... it's a very esoteric crowd with a narrow vision about what the game "should" be.

it's likely not a diverse crowd relative to all that play the game.. start to get group-think on some things, too. if i'm wrong, then it's a good resource for the more subjective choices about the future of the game.

i don't give info to any company/organization.. i paid enough already. i block the game in firewall, too. games that don't allow me to do so, i find a way to do so - lots of options out there even if you can't do it yourself. if it is mine i will do what i want with it regardless of an end-user agreement.

I didn't realize that they already collect this data. Great to learn - except now they know that I might have used Commissioner mode to "fix" a player contract once in a while.

I feel the same way. I mean, it's not as if I would definitely recognize Markus on the street - I might - and I am certain he would not rush over to me and say "Déjà Bruuuuu! How ARE you, buddy?"

But I do feel like I "know" these guys and in fact I want them to have my data because I want to register my style of play (historical fiction) and I hope it will help them continue to develop this fine game.

They only collect with your permission.
