The blue spinning circle sounds like the windows circle when it's busy doing something and the program is not responsive to user input, like in excel or something if some idiot inadvertently pasted a huge chunk of stuff to the whole page instead of one cell (or so a friend told me )

Could be. I know when I first saw it the first thing I thought was oh know the dreaded "not responding," but I'm not seeing that. This reminds me of a few versions back when using away uniforms caused the a delay when facegens generated for the first time through the lineup. One big difference though, this lasts all game and isn't easily fixed by turning off away uniforms. I will probably get used to it. Or, I might just start Eugene Churching my games, by simming through the first 5 or 6 innings and watching the rest.

I play the exact same way with short PBP. I noticed what you were talking about, but for me the blue circle disappears almost instantaneously. I barely noticed a difference, but there is a small one.

Are you simming the world in the background? Just curious if maybe that's what is causing the extra delay.

I too thought it could be the sim world in the background, so I turned that off. Still there. Yeah the delay isn't too long, hence the thread title Tom "Petty," but it's going to take a long time for me to get used to. I've been playing short PBP/instant for a long time now and I've become rather set in my ways.

I see delay time usining 1 pitch and instant and the default words setting, not using 3D, it's not like it's a long delay mostly for me but it's very noticeable every time I press enter to go to the next play makes the playing out of different and not as smooth as it has been in past versions.

Exactly. I had to go home from work during lunch and managed to squeeze in a few games. I think I'm getting used to it. Still wish it wasn't there, but it's not as bad as my first few games with it.

Yeah - I'm getting used to it too. There are a bunch of good new features with 17 and I'll be addicted as always, but overall the game doesn't seem to move quite as seamlessly as 16. More delays when simming, etc. Maybe it's just me.

Like if it's there to help against problems I will eventually get used to it hopefully.
