Ah, Win Probability Added. That makes more sense. At first I was wondering what graphs of the Works Progress Administration had to do with OOTP.

Damn the game recap reads like a legit game recap. Whoever did that deserves a kiss.

The addition of WPA graphs is huge! (This is something that I requested for consideration in my very first forum post, so I'm particularly excited / thrilled.) Many, many thanks to Matt Arnold!

I'd like to humbly suggest that this feature get highlighted on the OOTP 17 feature page -- it's a terrific selling point, particularly for the Baseball-Reference/Fangraphs crowd.

I'd love to see the WPA graph for this game. It was one of those games where the old Jack Buck quote from Kirk Gibson's shot off Eck in Game 1 of the 1988 World Series: "I don't believe what I just saw!" was quite apropos.

"One of the most remarkable finishes to any World Series Game...a one-handed home run by Kirk Gibson! And the Dodgers have won it...five to four; and I'm stunned, Bill. I have seen a lot of dramatic finishes in a lot of sports, but this one might top almost every other!"

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

Springer described as 3B but he's RF

Fixing the database, I think, will mean that Springer is listed there as (usually) playing RF. But what if he is shifted to a different position for a game? Will the recap use what is in the database for his position, or will it use what he actually played in that game?

It refers to him by the position he played in the game.

I had assumed the home team was always on the bottom, which would make sense given our pre-existing understanding of boxscores, but your link indicates that may not be the case. Or is it just a mistake?

EDIT: Looking at a bunch more on google it appears FanGraphs has the home team on the top. I greatly prefer Matt's, but I do prefer having y-axis labels.

Yeah, I figured it made more sense, so we're always home team on bottom. And there are labels. And the lines will be team colours if possible. And if that's still confusing, most of the time I look at it just to get a sense, did one team come back in the game, etc...

Are you familiar with the probability graphs? They use them over at Fangraphs and it's really fascinating to see how the odds play out - especially where a manager calls for a sacrifice bunt, the team executes it correctly, and their odds of winning go down...
