Bad news regarding Colorwerx's site!
He's pulled the plug (seemingly for good), ostensibly from some "pressure" from a few, plus other "personal" reasons.
See the reply here - ColorWerx.NET Site Launch - 02/11/2015 - Page 3 - Sports Logos - Chris Creamer's Sports Logos Community - SportsLogos.Net Forums This is a blow for us OOTP modders, IMHO. I only saved a few of his color patches, but now glad I did! |

I never used the site because, at least from what I remember, he simply had the correct hexcode for real teams. Since I don't created real team the site never interested me. Is that all the site was about? Hexcodes for real teams?

Basically, yeah. Except that it had color information for pretty much every team that ever existed, and even gave color information over time. Need to see exactly what colors the White Sox were using in 1937? That was your place.
I used it pretty frequently, and it will be missed. |

Some good news regarding the color charts - they can still be accessed through a Google image search, but only in a "preview" mode - at least enough to see what the colors are, anyway.

Noooo! I loved that site!
EDIT: You know, I can only imagine the ridiculous amount of work he put into this work of his, but some things should simply be publicly available, just like baseball-reference.com. How many of us have spent hours upon hours working on something only to make it available for free just because we knew others would get something out of it too? Yeah, you're not obligated, but come on. Maybe he should consider b-ref's sponsor system.

Looks like he's coming back in some form...

From what I've read across a few numerous sites is its going to be some type of "paid subscription"... not sure how that really makes sense or how that would work but I guess we'll see!

Personally I think he's shooting himself in the foot. He doesn't want his work distributed without his permission which i get but I don't think their is any real money in it. It's one of those things that's a great resource BUT it's not worth paying for. |

That's a shame. I've never seen the site before, but this seems like the type of thing that should be made open source ( like I did with my OOTP Utilities: https://github.com/JamesMowery/OOTP-Utilities ), and should enable the community to add contributions to the database.
Of course,I'm all for making money for your work; however, I think he should have possibly setup a Patreon page instead, and he could have asked for contributions there instead. I'm sure there are people who would have donated to show their support if the things he was doing was valuable. |
