Well,I lost my 2.5 game when my PC went KAPUT and I had no backup and no record of my purchase. To make a long story short,a few nights ago after reading some boxing articles and once again getting the TBCB bug(been playing since the board game in the 70's)so I ordered the phone app just out of curiosity. Well,so I see a little different graphical interface than I was used to but after a few bouts I decided to do a current heavyweight tourney. Thus far it seems to be as realistic as ever. I know all the complaints are about the Windows 8 version, however, this android app is a STEAL for 1.99!!! I have TBCB and have caught the fever once again! I have been on this forum and in this community for years and while I have been absent for quite sometime,it feels very good to be playing TBCB again...even on the phone. Just my two cents.

The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have little.

My problem was just with Windows 8. It seemed to have been designed for use with tablets and smartphones. I just disliked the interface. Never knew where things were. I just preferred Windows 7. Guess I've finally reached a point where I'm annoyed by change for the sake of change. If something doesn't work then okay, fix it. Too often now it seems that things are changed just because they can be.

Which also reflects my opinion of TB2013. I'm sure Paul had good reasons as a programmer to switch formats; maybe there were things he couldn't fix or improve with the old platform. But most of us would have taken the working bits from 2.0/2.5 and put them in the new version, possibly eliminating the head to head feature, and add stuff requested by the knowledgable long-timers here on the forum. Paul didn't do that. Unfortunate, but you can't go back now. He has to forge ahead and improve on the new existing model. Progress will be slow. Too slow for many of us oldies, but without a revenue boost to hire a second programmer we're stuck with the current timetable.

Hank 1974 (um kinda obvious reference to hammering hank) anyway one BIG difference i saw in the two was in the tournaments 2.5 had draws then refights 2013 i have yet to see a draw in the tourney (which trust me in a bout aging format its important) and the commentary is much better and I also like the way its laid out better. Other will say how buggy it is but honestly i havent seen that much of it..

So...after bashing the game, I thought I'd say a few kinder words.

I noticed that everytime I started the game, it went right into a save universe. I didn't think much of it, but I am wondering if that is where some of my problems started from. It doesn't make sense, but once I deleted all of my previously saved universes and started a new one, it automatically goes to the main menu (allowing me to open the universe I have saved). I haven't done any pool updatings, but wholesale fighter/group changes aren't resulting in some of the errors I had previously.

A few glitches (a new group will sometimes cause a crash, but not all the time), but definitely playable again for me.

if/when we get a new one and if I am on the beta testing team this time the main thing I will be testing is importing a universe ...

I agree, in my case it just took some time to become accustomed to the new game - I love it, the results, etc.!

I bought tbcb2013 and messed with it some. I had no issues, I just couldn't get anything fired up and have not looked at it in months. I still hang out here and read other unis hoping for that 'inspiration' to get me going again, but it just isn't happening.

Personally I've not had issues importing from 2.5 to 2013, and have run uni's on it, though not much recently since the 1.4 patch. As for the beta testing process for 2013, there simply were not enough of us working on it to get all the bugs ironed out prior to release, and face it, we're an impatient bunch, always pushing for the next big thing, so I think Paul succumbed to that pressure as well.....lol

I started a new universe and decided I would just work with the fighters in the game itself. Initially things ran pretty smooth and I was excited to get into this universe. I think I saved and closed the game, and then when I went back into that universe, everything was messed up. I had a FLY that was listed as a HW, but that didn't start the game that way, and I felt I had no other choice but to restart.

I thought maybe it had somehing to do with updating the data pool option, so I started a new game and go it all setup. I decided I wouldn't try doing any sorts of updating the data pool, etc. Again, things were running smoothly until it crashed during an auto-scheduler event, but I had saved the game...

I go back into it and the game essenially changed half of whatever I did. I had updated any HWT that was born beween 1940-1944 as Prime, so I was surprised when a fighter I had changed to Prime was now listed as "End" and all of a sudden he was listed as MW??

Changes it made somehow--

Muhammed Ali from a 15 Prime HW to a 0 End WW
Sonny Liston went from an 8 Postprime HW a 0 Prime HW
Pierro Tomasoni from a HW to a FW
Stan Ward and Ron Stander from HW to MW
Thad Spencer from HW to BW

Just checking over the universe I hadn't even touched yet --
China Smith, Fabio Moli, Dante Craig, and Kendrick Releford are the op rated HWs.

I just don't even know where to begin and I try thinking what might be the problem, but it seems like I can't even get going because these random changes that I can't account for. If I tried importing a bunch of fighter files, I could get it, but whether it's RFG issues or these weird changes I really don't know what to do.
This bug was the exact reason I quit playing. I really want to play this game which makes it all the more frustrating.

I haven't seen this happening. I wonder if it's because I'm using an AU I transferred over from version 2.0 via version 2.5? I'm not using any new boxers that I haven't created myself by overwriting existing boxers.

Here's hoping all this will be fixed soon.

I purchased the pc game(not the app)and while I really enjoy parts of it the only real problem I have with the game is the way the ratings change when you update the pool. Now,I know that is why we use this to capture updated ratings(been playing TBCB since I was 12 in 78) but at times I get guys rated at 0 that were all time greats etc. One constant error is with heavyweight Bryant Jennings,he is always listed as female(easy enough to change)but his rating has been 9,7,3 and 0 on updates. I assume he may have went from 9 to 7 after the Klitschko fight or 7 to 9. Just curious. I love the update from pool but this seems to cause issues. Any suggestions? I will always support this game and applaud Paul for taking on this labor of love. I sure wish I had stayed in college and finished as a computer programmer but alas, the ignorance of youth reared its ugly head and I just had to get married and go to work lol. Good luck to Paul. I would definitely be interested in donating or trying to get funding for the game. This is something I would hate to see go by the wayside. Peace fellas. Oh yeah, one last thing..did I read correctly that there is a new version of the board game out there?? If so,how many fighter cards are included??

I've been a supporter of these games and this company for a long long time.

But it has gotten the the point now where it's downright laughable and just ridiculous....

The "management" sim version of this game turned out to just be an empty promise...folks...it's been forever...if you really think about it...it's really sad.

And the hockey game I purchased last year was similarly bug ridden and we are still waiting for the long-promised final patch and new engine...which at this point....I truly wonder will ever happen.

I don't know if I can ever purchase here again. There are some good people who work here and who are customers...but fool me once...it's perhaps a one time thing...fool me twice...I'm the idiot.
