Champs is a cool idea. I could see doing a French explorer theme for the logo.

Champ = Name of the monster in the lake. Lake Champlain Icebreakers = Named for the ferries that transport folks from the NY side to the VT side. In winter, they are indeed icebreakers. Creemers = A specific kind of soft serve ice cream only sold in Vermont that isn't sold that way anymore. It's just regular soft serve, but they still call them creemees not Ice cream or soft serve. Lake Sox = Obviously because of the lake. |

knuckler, have you decided on the teams for the New England League?
Let me know the the towns and I'll work on the nicknames. Or do you want the nicknames before you decide on the towns? Let me know. |

May I suggest you name one team the Canadians? Many French-Canadians migrated to New England at the end of the 19th century up to then 1930s. In many places, more the half the population was French-Canadian, like Woonsocket, and in other places, they accounted for the third or more of the population, like Manchester, Nashua, Fall River.
You could even have the Woonsocket Naps to honor Napoleon Lajoie (like Cleveland did). Anyway, I'm following this project of yours very closely, since I live just across the border, and I often travel to Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. I can't wait to see what you'll come up with. I know it's gonna be amazing! |

I like the Woonsocket Naps idea. Just sounds fun. I think Pawtucket has to be included in this too since the Paw Sox are probably moving to Providence in real life soon.
Here's some inspiration though not of the baseball variety, it was a soccer project someone put together. I feel like there are some ideas in here. |

knuckler, ignore these suggestions if you like... I won't be offended.
BRIDGEPORT Bridgeport Barnums (for the P. T. Barnum Circus... housed in Bridgeport for years... it was Barnum's home). Bridgeport Clowns (circus connection) Bridgeport Big Tops (circus connection) Bridgeport Greens (town is known as "The Park City"... Barnum and others donated land for Seaside Park, which now covers 375 acres... Seaside Park was designed by Central Park's architect, Frederick Law Olmsted... home of the Frisbee. Tex, i was wondering if you would be willing to make some Colt .45's/Astros mashup uniforms for the 70's & 80's for me. One the Houston Roughnecks change to the Colt .45's they will keep that name until 2000 when they will just be called the Colts.
I want Astros colors on a home road and perhaps an alt jersey fopr the Colt .45's for the 70's & 80's the Astros jerseys below.

Just wanted to say thanks to knuckler, txranger, and everyone else who contributed to this thread.
I had played OOTP quite some time ago but then shelved it for several years. Recently, I had stumbled across this thread, picked up OOTP15, and have been thoroughly enjoying adding these franchises into a fictional league. Once again, many thanks for reviving my interest in OOTP! As an aside, I'm a terrible graphic artist so, thought I would add some team names into the mix as a contribution: Worcester - Hearts is a fantastic franchise name Burlington - Maple Sox (those jerseys and logo are probably my favourite set in this thread) - Sugar Maples (may also be a nice alternate to Maple Sox) Hartford - Charter Oaks (fantastic!) - Bushnells (after Bushnell Park, the oldest publicly funded park in the US) - Brokers (referring to the nickname as the "Insurance Capital of the World") - Whalers (the hockey fan in me would love to see the return of the whale) Bridgeport - Big Tops (circus connection) - Showmen (circus connection and, a reference to PT Barnum) - Spectacle (circus connection) - Ringmasters (circus connection) Springfield - Firsts (in reference to the nickname as the "City of Firsts") - Victorians (called the "City of Homes", a reference to the architecture found in the city, most of which is Victorian) - Mulberries (named after the street which sparked the famous Dr. Seuss book) New Haven - Elms ("the Elm City") - Puritans (founded by English puritans in 1638) - Greens (reference to New Haven Green, a National Historic Landmark) - Beacons (reference to Five Mile Point Lighthouse) Portland - Beacons (reference to Portland Head Light) - Lobsters Last edited by papershoes; 03-03-2015 at 09:03 PM. |
