MASSIVE problem I always have this time of the year with OOTP
Every year at about this time there are a bunch of cool new features that are touted and every year, although I get an itch to play some fake baseball because of the beginning of real baseball, I find myself wanting to do things that only the next version of OOTP can deliver. I fear that there is only one fix for this issue: release the game today in a bug-free, fully ready-to-go state. I do not feel like this is asking too much because of [insert reason why it would make sense to demand a 100% ready release a month and a half before the deadline here].
So please, Markus, get on it. "Burn the midnight oil" or whatever it is you burn at midnight in Germany (sauerkraut, perhaps?).

I'm still playing OOTP 12 and am foolish enough to read about the new versions (tight budget with other priorities, otherwise I'd just buy the new versions) which is a recipe for pain and suffering.

I feel the same way. Haven't really played OOTP besides online leagues since the game was announced. I say work on mapping out some fictional leagues you want to do. That's what I'm doing. Gives you something to look forward to and work on in the mean time.

This seems like a completely reasonable request to me. Quote:
I think what they burn at midnight might prevent an early release rather than expediting it. |

You're thinking of the Netherlands. Germany is to the south.

We all know that OOTP ∞, including complete ratings, statistics, photographs, logos and uniforms for every player, team and league in every country from Little League on up, as well as super-intelligent AI, 100 percent accurate rules for every year in baseball history, one billion story lines and four dimensional graphics, was completed years ago but is being released in tiny increments year-by-year to maximize revenue.

Aside the fact that no piece of computer software has ever come out perfect. The fact that everyone's computer have different set ups and different hardware, it is almost impossible for a piece of software this complex to be perfect right out of the box. I know your pain of having a flawed league and I am sure the Beta testers try to do the best job that they can but can not run every chance.
Even 15, which is final, I found at odd ball bug with historical random players and starting a league the year before an expansion draft. It is something we have all learned to live with. I am not a computer programmer, nor do I pretend to be one on television, but I have a friend who is and I am his major Beta tester. He sends me a link and says break it, but I never find all his flaws. It is just a way of life, software is written by humans, it will always be written that way (if a computer wrote software, its program would have been written by humans) so we will have to live with the imperfect world in which we live. |

I developed a software program for restaurants.. inventory, prices, access to kitchen from server etc. Anyone that has ever created software knows that it is never finished constant updates and fixes. My friends at Oracle go absolutely postal when someone asks if a program may still be in beta.. They scream software is always beta and never complete! I am shocked on how limited the updates are with this game, props to the developers
