Due to the fall in revenue within the MLB over the past 5 years and rise in revenue for both the National Football League (NFL) and National Basketball Association (NBA), Roger Goodell (Commissioner of NFL) and Adam Silver (Commissioner of NBA) have decided to work together on a hostile takeover of the NBA.

After the 2013 season, both Goodell and Silver met with a majority of the MLB owners. It was at this time, that the decision was made to bring 16 MLB teams under the umbrella of the NFL and NBA and create the National Baseball League (NBL). These teams would alter their names to match an existing NFL and NBA team. The 30 owners will then take part in a revenue sharing system which they will obtain a % of revenue brought in from the NBL.

As many wondered, what would happen to the players of the remaining 16 teams? Well it is simple, all players will be removed from their existing MLB team and put into the free agent pool. Prior to the beginning of the 2014 season, an Inaugural Draft will be held for the 16 new teams.

The length of player contracts will be modified to be included on 1-2 year deals in which the team that drafts them can negotiate during the season to extend that player.

As long as you are interested in the league and post on a semi regular basis, then that is all that matters.

I am a fan of this I have an idea for the 4SPL. Congress deemed the NHL, NBA & NFL too violent in 2025 and those 3 sports instead of folding become baseball leagues. They still play in the appropriate seasons and still have teh same schedules and draft from the same pool as MLB. the problem i have with my idea is finding correct schedules.

I know what you mean! I just finished up the logos and uniforms. I am going to simulate a year and then begin this report! I am hoping for the best.

The Inaugural Draft was held today. This was a snake draft in that the team that chooses last in the previous round will flip spots in the next round, same with other positions.

Who went lucky number 1? No surprise, with the 1st pick in the 2014 NBL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers select Mike Trout.

The results from the first two rounds can be found below. Further analysis into each team will follow.

The Los Angeles Lakers are off to the hottest start with a 13-7 record and 5 Game Winning Streak. They are supported by the hitter of the month, Edwin Encarnacion who has a stat line of .324/5/13.

In addition to their hot hitting, they have the best ERA in the league sporting a 2.39 ERA. Three of their five starters have an ERA under 2. Craig Kimbrel also leads the league with saves with 6.
