Urian Diakogeorgiou - Awesome name and a damn good pitcher too!

I'm pretty excited about this guy, and he just turned 26. Already has 2 Cy Young awards under his belt (past 2 seasons). I'm just afraid to see what kind of money he's going to ask for once his recent extension expires.

I'm hoping I have a potential HOFer on my hands here. He's been pretty damn dominant the past 2 years, but crapped the bed pretty hard in the post season this year.

Anyways, just had to share the awesome name/pitcher combo.

This was before downloading Questdog's name file!

His nickname is Die-K, and with ratings like that, along with an exceptional work ethic, he should end up in the HoF . . . barring injury (sorry to be a wet blanket). How has his injury history been so far?

Knocking on wood, but he's been in pretty much perfect health throughout his career so far.

And I like the nickname. Much easier than trying to pronounce however in the hell you're supposed to say his last name.

Looks like he had a rocky intro to the AL after the 2029 trade. Glad it worked out for you in the end.

Actually, I like it too, the more I think of it. "DIE-K" ("K" being the symbol for "strikeout")!

Well, he seems like a winner all right if he is one of those "Iron Men." (Interesting - I see you have the injury ratings turned off. I just recently started playing that way when one of us, I think it was Questdog, pointed out that this rating is a cheat because it is predictive, not just descriptive.)

Yeah, I was getting pretty nervous. I traded an established ace in Rich Barnes (and others) for him as I wanted to get younger and thought he had fantastic potential. He eventually settled down though and is now one of if not THE best pitcher in my game world. Barnes has been good for Cincinnati so the deal wasn't totally a bust for them. But I still get the feeling they'd like a do-over.

Yeah, I think this is the way to go. I'd rather not know. Keeps it interesting! And like you said, it's basically a cheat.

You know, that's an excellent point. It is cheating. I never thought of it that way. Sure I thought it strange when I'd see a fragile guy with no injury history. It should be turned off.

Where do you turn off the injury ratings? Now that it was brought up I'd like to do that too... "realism" is what I love

Nice job on the pitcher though. Big ups to his home of Detroit! ... Since I am from Michigan!

Q'dog brought it up and we talked about it. He pointed out that the injury rating is there PRIOR TO ANY INJURY HISTORY and therefore is not a report on how many times the player has been injured but the likelihood of his being injured which in turn comes directly from his hidden injury rating. Not good at all. It's off, I scan history and judge for myself, and I keep my fingers crossed with new players as IRL.

Game Settings, Players & Facegen, Hide Injury Rating.

Makes perfect sense. Has anyone brought it up to the dev team? Should be an easy fix i would think

Well, it's sort of both, for veteran players, since the injury rating is affected by injury history as I understand it (I've certainly seen a player's injury rating change after an injury). I'm not sure I think of it as "cheating" as there are myriad player attributes that need some kind of representation that are beyond the scope of your direct observation (work ethic, intelligence, etc.) but it's your game, play it your way, yada yada.

Agree with Scudworth. I'd hardly call it cheating. It most definitely changes and is reflective of history.

As for new players, scouts are going to have a handle on that, too ("The kid is talented, but he sat out a lot of games his senior year"). Maybe it would be worthwhile to have the injury ratings be scouting dependent--maybe they already are--but I think you guys are putting the criteria for suspension of disbelief at unreachable levels.

I agree that sometimes scout can predict injuries based on mechanics and what not. But sometimes you have guys like mark prior who had perfect mechanics. In ootp, you will know if a player is fragile.

So my question is in ootp terms, does a guy like prior enter the league with 1's in injury, gets injured, and then becomes fragile or does he come in already fragile and the game predicts it?

You can answer this for yourself, and prove my point, by taking a survey of new players without any history at all, let alone injuries, finding the ones that are rated injury-prone, and then going into the player editor and looking at their injury proneness numbers. My assertion is that there is a strong correlation between injury rating and injury proneness numbers and for it to be already established that this player is going to be injury-prone and for you to know this in advance, is unrealistic and a cheat. But that's only my .

I agree that this should be relatively easy to verify. I haven't done it yet myself, because I have been working on a new league rather than running my old one, but it should be easy to pick a set of players, go into the editor and change their injury prone-ness, and then just see what their injury rating is. Does it change immediately upon leaving the editor, after the next scouting, or does it not change at all?

One of those moments when I wish I was not at work and away from the computer my game is on!

I haven't tried editing proneness in OOTP 15 so I can't say if it changes automatically but in prior versions I know in one league where I set the initial age to be 16-22...I went in and edited every player in the intial draft that was set to fragile or wrecked to at least normal simply by lowering there injury ratings down. I enter the editor they will say fragile...change the numbers and when I exit it changes from fragile to normal or durable.

So in prior version I saw the change immediately.
