Ballpark effects?
I've read that, without downloading the pictures etc. for other ballparks, we only see Citizens Bank. That doesn't really but me. Do the different parks *play* differently, though? Do Fenway and Yankee stadium still have their quirks? Or do I need to download mod ballpark files for that, too?

Each ballpark has its own unique factors. The only picture included with the game is Citizens Bank Park, but that's just the picture; it doesn't affect play at all.
EDIT: However, you probably won't actually notice the "quirks," as you put it. Each park is set up to have a unique modifier for doubles, triples, and home runs, split for righties and lefties. These park factors will give you realistic outputs, so Yankee Stadium's going to have more home runs on average, but the actual dimensions of the park don't come into play: you won't ever see anyone getting a ringing single off the green monster or hitting the catwalks in Tropicana. The default settings for ballparks are unfortunately very vanilla. There a a number of .prk files floating around out there, though, which you can import into your game and implement. Also, if for some reason you'd prefer to employ this stuff yourself, seamheads.com has park factors going back to the 1920s (as well as 1915, I think).
