I'm also wondering how logos are assigned to teams. Hopefully it can be done automatically because the worlds of a contemporary game are ENORMOUS (more than two dozen leagues it seems like) but is it necessary to get rid of the default/generic logos if you want to use the "proper" ones?
I don't understand exactly what you mean but if i make a guess you want to know how to make logos appear in-game in historical mode and you want to know how to remove the generic ones and replace them with the real?

Go to ''my documents'', then ''Out of the Park Developments'', then go forward until you opened the ''data'' folder.
There you have a folder called ''quickstart_games''. Open that and there's ''historical.quick'' and ''majors.qick'' folders. inside these folders there are graphics folders. Open that and you see a ''logo_teams'' folder. There you put in whatever logos you want and to attach the logo to a team in-game you name the logo the teams name with small letters like this: alaska aces

If you want your historical logos to appear in a specific year you name them: alaska aces_1989.

And if you want to change logos mid-game. For example you relocate New York Rangers to Atlanta (right now that option is not available but you can rename the team in the editor) and call them Atlanta Flames you take the atlanta flames logo and put in in saved_games-the name of you saved game.lg-graphics-logo_team.

And no, it's not necessary to get rid of the default/generic logos but it doesnt matter.

But getting back to my previous post :

Why are the color logos not appearing properly (transparent), but the BW logos are fine (non transparent) ?

I'm talking about fictional logos, not historical, but it really shouldn't matter, as a png logo can't tell if it is a 'real' team logo or a 'fictional' team logo.

For some reason my historical folder has no directories for logos or team names. I'm going to create them now and see if it helps.

Oh ok, the folders should be named logo_leagues, logo_teams and player_pics if you didn't already knew that.

Well, I just copied the current and historical logos into the directories, overwriting the generic logos that were already there. Now the question (since I got the e-mail and changed setups) is whether they'll take and whether they will stay in place once the game updates.

I created a graphics directory in historical.quick because none existed (which was weird) and copied the historical logo directories into it. I hope that helps.

Yeah it should work but you should make a copy of every logo folder you have cause when you install a new update the new will overwrite the old. I just copied the two logo folders (league and teams) and put in besides the graphic folder so i just copied them into the graphic folder after every update.

That seems odd programming. But if precautions like what you suggest are taken it could be manageable.

Anyway you could update the Connecticut Whale logo to the Hartford Wolf Pack logo?

This is the rangers AHL affiliate and they have switched back.

Thanks!

Archi, are you managing the pack or is it someone at TBN? Where should I go if I have some "requests" and new logo?

You may want to try posting any requests here on TBL because Dani9 is checking that thread and posting updated packs.

Just curious for these face packs... For everyone that contributes and helps create them how do you go about removing the "background" so its just the outline of the players head and upper body? I would like to maybe change a few or use different pictures but not sure what the cleanest way to do that would be. I sure hope I am making sense!!!! lol

AW: Community to the Rescue - The Graphics thread for FHM 13

Archiv, can you give a rough estimate for the next update of the NHL mugshot pack? I'm pretty sure that the newest headshots of the players weren't made up until now, but how long will it take to release the pack with the 13/14 pictures? Before the season or after opening day? Thanks, btw you do a great job with the logo pack as always!

Personally I use a free graphics tool named GIMP but other people use Photoshop. There's a tool known as the Magic Wand Tool which allows you to select a patch of colour and delete it. As most logos and face images are on a single colour background, it's pretty easy to remove the background. However, some are harder and may have lots of colours/patterns behind them. In which case, you can use a Lasso Tool to cut-out the logo / face image. Regarding logos: In a small number of cases, the Magic Wand/Lasso Tool haven't been suitable and/or the image quality of the logo is too poor - in which case I've re-painted the the logo from scratch using the original logo as a template (where the logo is a relatively simple design).

A user named Fredlig did the previous mugshot pack. I don't know if he plans on doing another (although he has done quite a few in the past). I'm going to be consolidating a lot of the old user-made EHM packs into single packs. Some of them may be suitable for FHM.

I think it's also worth noting that facegen will be added as a post-release patch. I don't really know how this works, but I do wonder how this affects whether or how facepacks are needed.

Maybe I'm a minority, but I can't see myself using facegen...I've never liked head shots + facegen looks really fake/cartoony to me + I can't stand the idea of hockey players in baseball caps + I really don't like how the players cover up the logos

I love facegen in OOTP. It's a great feature, IMO. The ballcap thing with hockey players, though...I just can't see myself getting into that. We'll see. It's not that critical to me, with so many other major issues in need of attention.

Same here. I love what it does for OOTP Baseball, but if they can't get it working properly for a hockey game (hair; not hats or helmets), I'll be leaving it off.

I think I could cope with the baseball caps in the short/medium term. Although I'd much prefer something more hockey-like to replace it. Hockey helmets would be totally fine with me if hair isn't possible.

I don't really understand how facegen works, but I'm interested to know if it can generate random faces for players without preset faces. Also, it'd be great if player appearances could be set via the DB. That way, we could at least have faces with the appropriate skin, eye and hair colour. It gets pretty hard to get decent face images for players in the lower leagues and so perhaps it'd be nice to have a facegen image which matches the player's basic appearance - I'd prefer that to the black silhouette image.
