Community to the Rescue - The Graphics thread for FHM 13

As it says in the title, it's time the community to get busy.

The idea of the thread is to collect enough people to make a logo- and facepacks for as many leagues as we possibly can.

I'll take over the finnish leagues, at least the SM-League and Mestis.

Personally I'm more of an mugshot guy rather than action pictures, so that is where I'm aiming.

So let me know in th thread if you want to help, all though we'll have to wait for the measurements of the pictures for staff/players/logos, before any packs can be made.

Edit: Since I don't have any idea of OOTP, could someone tell me, are the backgrounds in the pictures transparent or not?

Mugshots:

Finnish SM-League: Wolves
Finnish Mestis: Wolves

Logos:

Finland: Wolves
Quebec Major Junior Hockey League: shawa666
Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey: shawa666

I can at least tacke logos for the LHJMQ and probably the LNAH.

Wolves, OOTB uses transparent backgrounds for logos. Mugshots are done through an independent application.

I figured that the logos are transparent, just like in any other game.

What I meant was, does OOTP have the players/staff mugshots with background (like in EHM) or transparent (Like in Football manager)?

What is this application?

OOTP has FaceGen built into the game, so it can, of course, generate any and all faces it needs to. But, you can can make your own with FaceGen Modeller. There's a nice explanation here on how to do it.

Now, I answered that first since it kind of explains what OOTP does about backgrounds. All FaceGen is cut-out like in Football Manager, since this is how the FaceGen program saves it. Then, there is an option in-game to apply a background or not. If you choose no background, it'll simply show the FM-style heads. If you choose to use backgrounds, it'll randomly apply a separate image behind the cut-out head.

So, as far as modding and the average user goes, the raw FaceGen file is all that's necessary. Put it in the facegen folder with the player's name, and the game will take care of everything else, like the background, jersey, facial hair, etc.

And one last thing to note: OOTP now uses FaceGen for all real players. Instead of the traditional real-world mugshots, they've gone through and generated FaceGen files for everyone. The results are actually quite impressive, in my opinion, and creates a nice, consistent look throughout the game. Not to mention, it allows all player "photos" to be dynamic, and stay up-to-date in their game world. However, I believe you can still add traditional mugshots if you want. In which case, I guess background vs cut-out is entirely up to the facepack author.

I've got lots of logos for EHM too, so thank you, but there's no need for that. Besides, we don't know yet, what the measurements are for the logos.

I wasn't aware of this so thank you for the information.

I'm sure that there's plenty of things to do, once the game is released, so short answer to the question is yes.

For team and league logos:

As you know, we can't use the real logos in the release version but as OOTP we will support some form of Add-On Central in the game which makes it easy to download/install custom logo sets.

One of our researcher, archibalduk from The Blue Line, puts together a "All-in-One" pack (and boy, it looks great in the game ) so he is the person to ask. I will let him know to keep an eye on this thread.

Hey guys!

As Sebastian says, I have been working on an unofficial logo "mega pack" (for both playable and non-playable leagues/teams) whilst I test FHM. The game won't ship with any logos itself, but user-created logos can be added easily.

So far, I have completed about 70 competition logos. I have also completed logos for teams in about 8 leagues. I have covered the main NA leagues and some of the Euro/Russian elite leagues. My plan is to cover the remaining Euro elite leagues before going on to the lower Euro and NA leagues.

So hopefully by the time FHM is released, I will be able to make available my unofficial pack.

What are the file size limits (if any) and dimensions of images please? Also, are they png like OOTP or another format?

There's no file size limit.

The images must be PNGs with alpha transparency. The images should be 150x150. I mean that the largest side of the image should be 150px - not that both sides should be 150px (e.g. 90x150, 150x125 etc is fine).

Unfortunately this means that none of the logos users have created for EHM can be ported over (they are too small). We have to start again with original source images.

If anybody is interested in helping with the mega pack then let me know and I will post a list of leagues that could be done.

EDIT: I have double-checked how many logos I have done: I have completed 61 league logos in addition to team logos for 16 leagues.

Here is a link to a thread in OOTP Mods - Logos, Graphics, and HTML that contains a file with over 5000 logos.

They may be of some use, there are hockey logos in there along with baseball and other sports.

Where do you need help. I could anything from Swiss leagues to NCAA and everything in between.

So which side should be 150px, height or width?

Edit: Got it...max. size is 150x150. Slow brain

I highly recommend this pack. I'm currently using it with OOTP; It provides seemingly infinite options for fictional teams!

Here is a link to a great site for NHL team logos, if you click on the team logo it will break down to many more historical logos for that team.

NHL Logos - National Hockey League Logos - Chris Creamer's Sports Logos Page - SportsLogos.Net
